There's a neat program called "Core Rules 2.0", if you could find a CD or a version online to install on your computer. It was officially made and published by the makers of AD&D 2nd Edition. It has a character-maker, character-sheet maker, and can output the result as Plain Text or other formats (I think PDF). It's been out of print for a long time, but you may be able to get it online. Just keep in mind that a lot of DM's have different, custom, house rules for character creation. So it's good to have some characters ready, or at least some ideas, but be ready to modify depending on the DM's setting and house rules.
