Blades in the Dark LF 2 Players for Sunday/Weekday Campaign (9 PM MDT)

Good evening scoundrels! I am looking to run Blades in the Dark for a group of four players, every other week from 9:00 PM -12:00 AM MDT, on either Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed (depending on player availability). No Blades experience is required (the game did just come out after all), but I will be running both voice and face cams, since I think it helps people role play a bit better. Don't know anything about Blades and/or if it's a game for you? To really enjoy the system, you need to really buy into the concept. You and your fellow PC's are a crew of criminals in the victorian/steampunk city of Duskvol. You will be taking on jobs (scores), trying to expand the power and influence of your crew, and possibly trying to uncover the darkest secrets of Duskvol in the process. The only ways to advance your characters and crew is by roleplaying and/or taking risks, so if you are the type to play it safe and cover your ass 100 percent of the time in RPG's it may not be for you! If you are interested, and the time slot works for you, please respond with a little bit of information about what type of campaign you would be interested in. You can find the playbook and crew sheets here, if you would like to take a look: http://www.evilhat.com/home/blades-in-the-dark-dow... What playbooks would you be interested in playing? What crews would you be interested in playing? What type of campaign would you be interested in playing? This includes the level of magic, the tone (dark and gritty, deadly threats everywhere, or more lighthearted), as well as if you want to focus more on the crew development aspect or an overarching story. I already have two players, who are planning on playing a Whisper/Spider. As a result, the campaign will likely have a moderate amount of magic/ghosts throughout as well as some intrigue. This doesn't preclude other players from using those playbooks, but you will probably want diverse characters to get the most out of the campaign. The players we have so far have shown the most interest in playing as a crew of Shadows, but I don't think that is necessarily hard and fast. Let me know what you think, and feel free to hit me up with any questions or discussion about what you would be interested in playing.
Hello, My name's Cody and I would like to express interest in your Blades game if other players with similar availability are available in the Sunday timeslot. I actually kickstarted Blades and have been playing it off an on since the Beta (First game I played in was during quickstart guide 0.6 i think) so I'm definitely interested 1. Seeing as you already have I would say that I would be most interested in playing the Hound above everything else, and if somebody else wanted that then I would say my secondary would be Leech 2. My favorite crew type is Hawkers, but I also am not oppposed to Smugglers. Cult's could work with the ghost / intrigue but I'm not a big fan of, and I think Shadows are done to death. so I'd vote for Smugglers or Hawkers personally but I'd be ok with anything really 3. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to tone and type of campaign, I always like one where we interact a lot with the other factions and that allows for a lot of good roleplaying, because I find the roleplaying to be the best part. So Intrigue based is cool with me and as much supernatural shit as you want. Tone wise I always prefer darker to lighter but since that's not everyones cup of tea I'm ok with about anything
Late night is great for me. Been wanting to play this since before it came out. So I am very interested.
Sunday would work best for me but I could pull off the late nights to finally give Blades in the Dark a shot. I might be able to pickup a webcam if that's a make or break point (I've been putting off buying one for ages) The only real question I'd along back to you is how would you describe how you want to GM this game (Narrative or mechanics focused, improv vs scripted, etc)? 1. Cutter sings to me since I always like to play the frontline in games but if the crew wants to shy from direct combat, leech and slide both look super interesting. 2. As for crew types. I'm leaning heavy towards assasins or shadows since I haven't played a game where those playstyles are even possible so it'll be new and interesting. 3. I like my stories dark a gritty since it allows for more character development and less the Pc's acting like demigods set loose on an un-suspecting populace. I don't feel to strongly one way or the 9ther in terms of magic abundance as long as not every plot advancement is explained as "Well, magic sure is weird, right guys?"
Thanks for the responses! As for GM style, my preference would be to focus on the narrative and keep things unscripted. John designed Blades well enough that we don't need to worry about the mechanics too much, since they follow the narrative. I want the players to direct the flow of the game as much as possible, with me bringing Duskvol and it's denizens to life as a response to that. We would have a session zero where, even if the PC's have their characters mostly fleshed out, we will go over everyone's contacts/rivals/backgrounds in an effort to entangle them directly with each other and the story. So being flexible (like I want to play Cutter, but am open to Leech/Slide) is ideal and will help you make your final decision once you get a sense of where the rest of the group is ending up. As for crew type, at least one of my players is not very interested in playing Hawkers, so that would probably be out. I realize that Shadows have probably been done to death by other groups, but I haven't managed to play a campaign yet so that is less of a driving force for me.
Just so you know, even if I don't particularly want to do Shadows I'm open to anything really
Bump! We are still looking for 1 more player to fill our Sunday 9 PM MDT Blades campaign! We got through crew and player creation last night for the 3 we had, and they settled on assassins (Whisper/Slide/Hound playbooks). Send me a message if you are interested and the time slot works for you, along with what you would be interested in playing!
Hey ZasZ, If you are still looking for another player fro Sunday night I may be interested. Or you doing video or just voice? How long have your sessions been going? Thanks!
