Looking to start up a new long term campaign. The game starts out near future Earth, zombie apocalypse that grows into a space faring exploration setting through the use of alien tech. Characters will discover the use of mystical energies throughout the galaxy during game play. I'm looking for 5 to 7 players, age 18+. Game time is Saturdays at 9pm Eastern. (My work schedule is 10 to 12 hours a day starting at 3:20 AM, so Sunday through Thursday is out for me.) Several members of the group will be employees of DynaTech, 200 point characters that are leaders of their field of expertise (Security, I.T., Bio-engineering, etc) Campaign Setting: TL:8 with bio-engineering, cybernetics, and ballistic weapons from TL9 Location: Columbia, Missouri DynaTech's facility is located on a 600 acre (just under 1 sq mile) plot of land along the Missouri River. It hosts its own hydro electric dam, wind farm, and solar panel array to provide for the needs of the facility and there is a water purification plant on-site. It is the second largest facility owned by DynaTech, next to the parent facility located in Helena, Montana. DynaTech-Columbia: Director of Operations - Joseph Manson Current RnD projects: Neurological regeneration - NRx15 - Regenerates damaged brain tissue. NRx01 - NRx14 failures. Recent Breakthroughs: Cellular Regeneration - CRx21 - Applications allow for regeneration and regrowth at a highly accelerated rate. (Game terms 5 HPs per day) Cost per dose: $2,000.00 Most researchers are hired directly from the Missouri University in Columbia which has become one of the top universities in Bio-Engineering. Other notable facilities: DynaTech-France, DynaTech-Japan, and DynaTech-Egypt. DynaTech maintains 5 satellites orbiting Earth for communication purposes. Criminal elements: Rumors of mafia elements and definite gang activities. Law enforcement: Columbia Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol, and a small FBI area branch. Military: National guard compound. Once your characters are set up you can send them to me and I will create your tokens. I have the character creation assistant, so you can send me the character files. My son will also be playing a combat/hacker type. Recommended roles: Combat(At least 2); Doctors-Geneticists; Infiltration, acquisition and/or asset relocation specialists; Hackers; Pilots/Drivers; & Techs/Mechanics. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/85000/the-begin
... We had 2 players drop from the game, so we have 3 slots open. Pilot/driver is open and 2 pure combat types.
I am interested in playing. My wife may want to play as well. We are experienced fantasy low tech GURPS players. what books/versions are you using? I wouldnt mind trying for a Tech/Mechanic role, or Combat. Not sure what my Wife would want to play, but she is open for anything needed I bet. EDIT: She would be willing to play combat or the "Spy" roles.
I've never actually gotten to play GURPS, though I got very close to starting a game of my own before too many players dropped out a few years back. I'm definitely interested in giving it a go. I'd probably attempt to build a doctor/geneticist.
I might be interested but idk how to play lol. Reading tonight.
Haven't played GURPS in a while. I'd be up for playing one of the combat characters if you need one.
Well, starting out, we'll make use of the basic books, martial arts, high tech and tech level 9 ultra tech and bio-tech. 4th edition. A combat type could be combined with infiltration or mechanic/technician. @Softman - GURPS has a lot of information and can result in a lot of book keeping given range modifiers, etc, but starting out with the basic books and going slow will make learning easy. I will get things rolling and a detailed campaign plot put up tomorrow. For the combat characters, doctors, and any IT/hackers, DynaTech will be your patron. 25 points base, appears fairly often (x1).

If you can, some world lore and history would help flesh out my, and others, characters. I've got the raw outline of a combat engineer turned armory tech, just need a world for his backstory to come from.
If you still need more players, I would be quite keen for this, it sounds fun. I am an experienced GURPS 4e GM/player (with some experience in 3e) but never get to play - always an NPC, never a PC. By the background, I would consider a sneaky-thief-spy sort. I use GCS. I will also make up a Doctor type in case there aren't any of those.
@storyteller - Yes, still room, so that puts us at a tech/mechanic, a combat monkey or sneak, a doctor/geneticist, a combat monkey, a combat monkey/hacker, and a sneak. @keldab - world background: It is generally tech level 9. The United States has moved forward in its renewable energy plans and is now the world leader in hydro and solar energy and has some of the largest wind farms. The US failed to ever put a stop to the Taliban or ISIS and those two factions have been fighting for control of the Middle East since. Neither side looks to ever win. In 2025, Seattle was destroyed by a nuclear missile from N. Korea and everything west of the Rocky Mountains is radioactive to some degree. The US retaliated in kind and destroyed N Korea. It was at that point that DynaTech stepped forward with promises of making the US the super power that it should be with enhanced soldiers. Basically anything from a TL 9 point of view. Their first soldiers were killing machines accepting orders without question. DT (DynaTech) stock soared and they became the premier bio-engineering company in the world. Until their rise to the spotlight, BE was still in its infancy and cybernetics was not even out of the womb, so to speak. With the switch to renewable energy, the US is still leaving the middle east to fight themselves and they are currently the controlling power in the UN. General Mathew Norris is the current POTUS and most of the secret service is comprised of engineered guards. I hope this gives a decent generalized background, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. August 12th is just a date that I put in, so if we need to extend that a week, that's prefectly fine with me.
I am thinking about using the 3rd edition rules for space though.
Sweet. Well, so that others can build around it, my guys generic back story is asset denial with explosive means in US mil initially, went contractor when he got a good offer, then became a small arms and vehicles armory/repair guy when he was hurt on a job. Guess at some point DT picked him up. My goal with him is to keep our team in top notch working condition for small arms, armor, and vehicles, and when in combat hes decent with small arms, but is best at blowing things up. for skills sake what is the primary vehicle type for our world? as well, battle armor or combat armor for DT?
driving - automobiles are electric powered versions of current equivalents, piloting skills include airplanes, vertol that are similar to cars, but capable of winged flight (think the small combat "helicoptor" in Avatar) that are powered via long term batteries. The first manned trip to Mars returned 5 years ago and the company that funded the expedition was purchased by DynaTech.
Sent my character to you. Question though, what is the means of communication going to be? She has a gratuitous French accent, and I would redesign the character if doing voice, as there is no way I could do a young woman with a French accent no matter how hard I tried. :) and I don't want to ruin immersion.
It'll be voice for the most part, but if you want to type out character dialog, that is definitely an option.
@Keldab Forgot to answer the second part of your question. Either type will be fine while on DT property. The CR offsite though is 3. During ops that require travel, company vehicles "count" as onsite.
@Storyteller - Love the character. I'll try to do her justice in Daz for the token and character profile.
I've had a bit of time to look into the books, and I've started making a preliminary draft of a character. Are we using the standard 50% cap on disadvantage points?
The cap is 75 points for disadvantages: 70/5(disadvantages/quirks) @Storyteller - do you have an "image" in mind that I could use to make the character? I'm not having much luck in finding a decent enough picture to get the facial features right. Same for everyone else - If you have a "look" in mind and can get me a picture, I can come pretty close to it in Daz.
I can do one in Daz if you like, I am actually working on one myself for my own purposes (I've been an avid 3D artist for the last decade) I can send that along if you like. I did make a couple changes after I sent the sheets, as the character idea morphed from when I started; - removed One-Eye disadvantage (-15 pts) - removed Callous (-5 pts) - removed one level of Striking Strengh (+5 pts) - added an Enemy(moderate/rarely) (+15 pts): the entity that originally hired her to retrieve the information that she decided may not be best to pass on/change of heart on the job for the betterment of humanity (I am in a Resident Evil movie #1 frame of mind so could be off base on the circumstances). Left the entity unnamed. I hope this works okay, I can keep it as is if not?
That would be awesome. I'll send you the camera angles/position for the token pic as well if you want to render that. That way we can keep it all uniform. And I've only been using Daz for about 2 years. Still learning all of the ins and outs of it, especially with the IRay rendering engine.
Yes, that's fine. Resend the file when you're done. I think the enemy will work great.
is there a game page for us to post on? hate to keep bumpping this thread in the LFG area. :)
Hey, it looks like I won't be able to join after all. Looks like you've still got a healthy crop of players though, and I wish you the best!
Thanks, Sharpe. Best of luck.
says not authorized when i click the link.
By default a link such as https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/1234567/s
... is only visible to players already in the game, and only Plus and Pro subscribers can make their games visible to the public . The best way to handle this situation is to create a Looking for Group listing ; even if you do not enable it for viewing in the LFG Directory you can share the link with others and have a separate Listing Discussion forum
just for those potentially interested in your game. As a bonus, anyone
who posts to your game's Listing Discussion forum will have a big blue button by their username and all a
GM has to is click 'Invite to Game' and an invitation will be sent their way. I hope this helps, happy gaming! :)
Still looking to add 3 to 4 players. I am pushing the game back a couple of weeks due to not having the players, some scheduling conflicts and trying to get things worked out with my new job.
Alrighty, I'm all set to go. Looking forward to it!
Our group is almost full, all we need is a pilot/driver type with some survival skills if anyone is interested in playing GURPS.
