I'm putting out a bit of an interest check to see who might be interested in an Alternity game. If you haven't encountered the system before, it's a fun Sci Fi focused system that is a precursor to d20 and a lot of elements were borrowed from Alternity and later reused by Wizards in d20 Modern and d20 Future. Unfortunately it was a casualty of the new direction of WotC d20 plans after they bought TSR in the early 2000s. It's always been my favorite system. It has a few warts, but it is simple to learn, with a wide variety of options as far as rules go. Newbie friendly, and I'm willing to teach the system to anyone interested. The books are available through various channels as well. Thinking of starting out small, with potential to expand into a larger campaign if it goes well and the group clicks. I'm thinking 4-5 players at most. Players will be freelancers to start, hired either independently or through a freelancer agency. The campaign will take place in the Verge for those familiar with the setting. I will not be following the explicit events of the official campaign for those that are familiar with the StarDrive setting and canon. The overall tone would be semi-serious, though we're all in it to have fun. The campaign would likely be held in the evenings on either Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, with possible bonus sessions at other times. If anyone has any questions regarding the game or the system, feel free to message me. To those interested, www.alternityrpg.net is a great resource. I've also learned that there is a new version in development, that while I'm not currently looking to use the beta ruleset that has been released, I may be open to this in the future. EDIT: A few things that I forgot to mention. First, my Timezone is EST (GMT -5) Games would be run in the evening, most likely 8pm-12am. The setting is Space Opera, Far Future technology level and will be a combination of investigation, intrigue, and adventure. Think more Babylon 5 and less Star Wars. Alternity is a skill-based game. Levels confer minor benefits, but do not make you more powerful. Only raising your skills makes you more powerful. It is conceivable for a level 1 character to kill a level 20 character, though it is likely to be very difficult. It relies on a system of rolls to gauge the success of a skill check with one main roll that is modified by rolling bonus dice rather than a set bonus modifier.
