player could not join with posted join campaign link

today a new player tried to join the server via the link you get from chat. Didn't work out, we had to have him join the LFG active listing, then he made a post, and was able to join by invite button. If it continues for other new players will get specifics of messages. I know this is sloppy, been a bit tired.

Were you playing in a Google Hangout?
no, we had skype, plus roll20. It was kind of weird. normally you pass the link from chat to the player, they click and are added. We tried to send same link again, in case the guy mis copied it. But the invite to campaign button worked. Sorry I did not test if it was repeatable, with someone else. OIur game had already started, this was a new player whom we knew who had not joined roll20.

Ah. That might be because when you send a join link to a completely brand new user to the platform, they first need to create a Roll20 account. It should have auto-routed him/her to the account creation page, but then should have started loading the game once the account was made. Did the new player mention any problems with account creation?
no, he didn't mention it. but that was the circumstance he was a new join to roll20. I will do some more testing, if these circumstances arrive, but likely that seem to be the case, because others already on roll20 have not had problems, so new to the site seems to be the operant condition. Thanks for investigating.
Thanks for letting us know about this, but since it's not confirmed I'm going to go ahead and close this out, if it comes up again and it's a repeatable thing please let us know by creating a new thread. Thanks!
