I'm thinking of a cleric of some kind. Here's what I got so far: Dwarven cleric of Gorm Gulthyn Half-Orc Witch Doctor Human cleric of Torm One is a hybrid caster while the other two are more combat oriented.
i am set on the Elf (any) Archer.... kill em before they even close :D
Okay Paul... Well I guess it boils down to making a decision. Have you rolled stats yet?

i mean, i could, but with no sheets yet they would just sit in chat ok, done, not horribad, but not great
Paul W. said: ok, done, not horribad, but not great Looks like the last set was pretty good... Just means you got a gruff archer/woodsman. What macro did you use? Or did you just copy Gold's one? Either way this will help me decide on what to play. Plus write my character before transferring it over.

Okay... I'm going to make a Dwarf cleric of Moradin. It's just too good to passup. Plus the group needs dwarf power!
you with a cleric, me with a Deathslayer.... UNDEAD BEWARE!!!!!!!

Paul W. said: you with a cleric, me with a Deathslayer.... UNDEAD BEWARE!!!!!!! Hell yeah! Only thing is the dwarf can't turn undead till Level 7... However he gets +2 hit/damage to compensate. In truth the Cleric of Torm is a better undead slayer since they can keep turning until they fail. But... I thought he might have a small problem with a necromancer. I could still play that character though as he'd be more combat orientated.

All of the above, is awesome. Your characters will be kick butt. Let's make this campaign epic and pulpy and dramatic, like Thor and Wonder Woman and Conan and John Carter Of Mars. Like vikings and valkyries coming out of a Led Zeppelin song, versus the monster Eddie from the cover of every Iron Maiden record. Scheduling announcement affecting today: I have a medical procedure today, on my way to Doctor's now. I don't know if I will be home in time for the game or if I will feel well enough to DM, plus I don't have the first Song quest totally prepared yet. If I do get home and feel okay I'll log on and we can talk characters and I'll set up the long-awaited character sheets. Sorry for the delay on assigning you guys character sheets. Game will play on October 9, next week, regular time. Feel free to enter the game table today and talk to get us ready.

Usually I know what I want to play and have everything locked down. But this time I can't decide on anything solid. Kevdak was definitely fun. I've always loved the concept of berserkers. Yeah I'm also assuming its just a meet-up too. Hopefully we can lock down what to play. Okay Gold... I'll be on today if you want to chat Paul.
yea Gold, GL mate, hope everything is good after.... and yea man, no DM today, just flesh stuff out while you recover/prep ill be on Solid.... even considering the Deathpriest now ha ha ha idk maybe between us all, we can come to conclusions, and get a few more folks to join by next week

I am back from procedure and just need to mostly stay laying down for a few hours. got computer on, will turn on discord. I won't DM or lead the session, I'm pretty quiet today but I will check in and answer questions and listen if you guys banter. Yeah Paul I plan to recruit more players BUT i also decided I can run a duo session for you 2 guys with 2PC. Song world is so different I can really modify the difficulty challenge level on the fly. That said I also plan to post on Homebrew World and make sure people like Lex, Andy, Cat, and WickedWayz, should know we are making a new Song World campaign and the Join Link so they can all be invited to join this too, whoever wants in. And if you know anyone good who wants to try this, we can invite them.
i threw a post up in tavern, lets see what it gets us :D
would you all mind if i joined the game?
not at all, PM Gold for the join link though, he is the DM
Silk said: would you all mind if i joined the game? Welcome back. Gold will add you to the game.
thank you. it's been one hell of a crazy ride this past little while since i've been gone and i've managed to acquire more metal in my body. i was hoping for the full adamantium transfusion but my healing factor is kinda wonky :)
I have an idea for a charater, A Dust Witch. She is a woman of a desert nomadic tribal background that has made a pact with some kind of desert demon or elemental. She would specialise in the Enchantment School. She would also have the NWP's Cooking, Herbalism and Brewing. She also uses the Witch kit from the wizards handbook. I'm not sure on her race yet, but am thinking about that. This is the picture that sparked her concept.

Both look to be pretty strong. I think Level One too --- but with a more "EPIC" pulpy archetype, compared to the previous campaign (Adventures In A Homebrew world, which had a theme of "start small and don't foresee a long-term character build; find out in-game how your character will grow".) This campaign (Song World) is to have an Epic, Pulpy, extraplaner / Planescape / Planes-hopping, Cross-Genre, Crossover, also Spelljammer and Swashbuckling around the universe, kind of feeling. Epic in an almost exaggerated sense like EP1C11111!! Think of things like Conan The Barbarian, Red Sonja, Star Trek, Buck Rodgers, John Carter Of Mars, War Of The Worlds, Jason & The Argonauts, Dragonlance Chronicles & Legends, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Gandalf, Indiana Jones.... and probably there are even more examples from the comedy-fantasy genres, I just don't tend to think of a lot of comedy titles. Maybe some Pirates Of The Caribbean, parts of Princess Bride. Maybe an archetype like someone from WWF, the World Wrestling Federation. This campaign is more like you are playing Gandalf and Thorin in the start of "Fellowship Of The Ring", less like Bilbo and Samwise even at their most-epic ending Book 3, "Return Of The King" much-less the timid Bilbo in the start of Fellowship. You are playing "Someone (TM)".... Not a nobody who happens to rise up. You should be able to picture your character as being able to Fly potentially rather often... being able to Jump like in Kung-Fu movies especially if you have Jumping Proficiency.... just picture yourself being Epic at whatever your character does. If you have Cooking NWP then you can be the Gordon Ramsay of D&D and shout at everyone while making delicious dishes behind your back & blindfolded, while carrying on in a battle. You can make up backstory things in this like, you are playing, The daughter of a King.... The strongest villager from the Mongoll Nation...In fact every PC should be the something-est of all time. The bravest, the dumbest, the wisest, the weirdest, the ugliest, the nicest, the meanest, etc. The first dwarf born with wings (using Pixie stats)..... An underwater race who happens to have an Air Respirator.... An ancient Lich who was cursed to go backwards in Age and is now a teenager-human with lichy dreams.... The human demigod-to-be offspring of Zeus impregnating a Prime Material species... (Zeus x a Halfing; Zeus x a Lizardfolk, etc)... A fortune-teller or paratrooper or engineer or security guard from Modern Earth who was accidentally teleported to the D&D Song World.... A Necromancer who is intent on finding the River Styx..... a Human who was bitten by a radioactive spide...Scorpion.... and now has some of the body/powers of a spide...Scorpion. Does this make sense and give you ideas?
yeah... it sure does. so... in our last game we had a pretty interesting and eclectic mix of races. what sort of things are open to us? with this sort of campaign setting i have a pretty cool idea for a Fallen Valkyrie if that would be something we could do.

I'm open to many species / races, for this. Even wider than the Homebrew World game. If it is a race that is not detailed in any 2E official books, then please base it on Human (statistically) or Elf and just reskin it narratively to the alternative race. I would like at least SOME bipedal humanoids (Human, Elf, Dwarf, would all be very fitting) in the party, not a bunch of dragons and displacer beasts and sentient gelatinous cubes. I need some walking-talking people as PC's to engage in occasional dialog, negotiations, puzzles. However they can be very strange and intimidating people (the Characters). A few who are as weird as, say, a talking raccoon, or a clay golem, would be alright. So yes, just proceed with Fallen Valk idea and base it on whatever race-class-kit you find in the books that seems relatively fitting, or easy.

Ok so I have an INSANE idea so I am doing to throw it on here and see if Gold is horrified... What about making my Dust Witch a Succubus? So my Succubus is the daughter of a high ranking count in thier home plane. Obsessed with adventure and danger she refused to take on her resposibilites and uphold the family name. She gets into fights at the drop of a hat and her actions are fueled by a need to be entertained at all times. Her Father attempted to have her imprisoned and married off so she fled to the prime matieral realm to challange the most powerful creatures in combat, drinking and games. She can take many forms and has the following abilites as per her race (subject to Gold's approval): Succubi are affected only by +2 or better weapons. They are immune to all fire-based attacks, magical or otherwise. The kiss of a succubus drains energy from its victim, causing the loss of one level of life energy. The succubus lures a mortal man into activities of passion and then drains energy from him. Even after a drain, the heat of the moment is so strong that most men do not notice (Wisdom check at -4 penalty to notice each drain). If he fails the check, he continues, heedless of danger. In addition to those available to all tanar’ri, succubi also have the following spell-like powers: become ethereal (as if using oil of etherealness ), charm person. (Passion can be combat or challanges of skill, not just romantic encounters). For disadvantages, she MUST act impulsivly albiet not stupidly and will accept any and all challanges and chances to solve puzzles and games. Her addiction to draining mortals of energy has rendered her unable to eat food to gain strength and she MUST feed on mortals to survive. She would be Lawful Evil, as she was brought up in a noble family and has no interest in taking over or destorying the world. I'm not sure on class yet, im open to suggestions. She is basically Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers series Some of her forms: I cant seem to inbed a video but this is a good short one on the charater https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s89o-zb9wEg

I’ve had a long time campaign idea where the game truly begins once the PC’s die and get taken to Valhalla. Fallen Valkyrie... hmm... Look at the 2e Planescape manual. I think they have a dark version of an Aasimar.

Everything above sounds cool. Story-wise I approve. Stats-wise I haven't had a chance to look and think about it, however I'm loose and not too worried about it. Obviously anything ultra-powered could make the battles too easy, but I'm going to try different methods to balance it on-the-fly. I'm mainly emphasizing everyone having something that feels EP1C!! and what I'm hearing so far is good. I'm going camping, starting today. I'll be out of town and offline for several days. Don't mind me if I am unresponsive for the rest of the week and weekend. I plan to be back in civilization and online by Monday in time for our next game day meet-up.
Love ya'll!
the stats are, well, fantastic.... she's a Valkyrie after all :) i'm under the impression that we are starting at first level so the default levels for figther/bard i wouldn't imagine would apply.

so yeah, after using Gold's new stats macro, i am TOTALLY going for the...... well i am not exactly sure tbh..... no race i know of has an ability cap that allows for the 20 i rolled...... Edit: ok, i know we already had one as a player, but i think i finally settled, based on rolls. Minotaur Fighter, no kit..... and yes Solid, Gold has a stat macro, be sure to use it, the rolls come out WAY better than the old one :D
Still cannot deside on class for my charater...
Wait? Are me rolling new stats?
well, there is a new macro, and tbh, it gives out the possibility of 20's so i like it lol

Paul W. said: well, there is a new macro, and tbh, it gives out the possibility of 20's so i like it lol Yeah, this. It's only a small chance of a 20, so, don't roll the Roller a million times trying to get the 20. Just roll it like 1-2 or maybe 3 times. Yeah, I wanted the stats more like the inflated stats we used when we were kids in D&D. When we used to use Deities & Demigods as a monster book to fight against. So your PC could be more of an Incredible Hulk, Arnold S., kind of bulk, if you choose that. Or a Stephen Hawking brain. Or Aphrodite charisma. It is possible to get multiple 19's and there is one dice that can possibly yield a 20. Not sure about racial stat limits, check with me on a case-by-case. Example --- Goblin is not allowed to have a STR 20, or really any 20's, they have a lower maximum on every stat. We will decide together if an exception makes sense. You can always be a "human" and use unlimited stats, for this campaign.

Update. unfortunately I haven't put a Character Sheet in the game yet & I'm going camping for a few days so probably won't get around to Char Sheets til Monday. But the stat roller is in the Collections tab and you can mess with it, either for "testing" or for your real rolls.
So I have rolled these stats: 17, 17, 11, 11, 4, 19, 14 (so I can remember the stats) I am thinking of making mine a spell singer, I think it makes sense with the Succubus profile. Assuming that is cool Gold I will prepare a forum journal post with her background and a little lead up to her walking the prime material relm :)

Stats look like what I'm going for with this. Should be fun. The 7th stat is Perception which can range from eyesight to insight. Character-types like Fallen Valkyrie and Succubus Spell Singer sound good. You all know that I like a motley assortment in a party. Paul & Solid, whatever you want to make, in light of the developing tone & range of the game. The reins of 2E are loosening more and more here. Haha! It's a pulpy game too. You might make a different character next week. This character might die, or enter the eternity of some song and get retired. Don't necessarily invest in this character like it's a life-long character, or a continuous story throughout all songs of the game quests. Make these characters up like they are pulp in a super-hero grinder. Like you're a tattoo artist or a comic-book illustrator and you might be called-upon to invent several new superheroes, all in a day's work. Make a cool character, no doubt, and flesh them out, pictures and journals welcome. But don't invest the character like it would be one character, one long-term story. It is a Song World of many threads, many heroes, many archetypes and alignments. Myriad. Multitude. Legionary. Gangster. Flash mob. The populace. D&D to the 2nd Power. Each of these Characters is no more than one good song by a songwriter. You have to have more, to keep 'em coming, so keep them coming. Keep writing. Cannot rest on your laurels of a one-hit wonder hero. You are now making your first PC for the first song of the game (a basic simple song to start us off), and IF your PC survives the 1st encounter then you can decide if you want to continue with them in the next song quest, or make a new char. If you "Die" or get trapped permanently, cursed to insanity, and so on, then you must make a new PC. Deaths are gonna happen, so get ready for recycling and remaking and rolling anew to think of another clever character type, possibly as often as week-to-week. However I will probably let you Players start to collect an arsenal of magic items in-game, that can be used by incoming characters. You can Will, grant, trade & transfer & inherit magic items from retired or past PC's.
The idea for my character is he's the semi-immortal servant of his deity. Each death or failure results in his reincarnation. This means he might be a cleric one adventure, a fighter another, and so on... Until the end of the campaign or his purpose is full-filled.
