c02s05e03 - The Crown of Axes Day 240 Frank's priests finish purifying the Enchanted Glaive, TrueCleaver Size huge weapon 3d10 magic slashing damage, once per long rest can target any spell effect and make an attack roll treated as a dispel magic check. While Darguun training is underway, the team has time to tie up some loose ends. Fire Todd loads a teleport for Frank and Rogar and they jaunt to where the Crown of Axes lays inert in the mushroom forest of the underdark beneath nibernay. dropping back down into the ship, they begin to explore the inner structure room by room.. always a 20 foot long 10 foot wide cylinder with siege doors at both ends. It's a funhouse of various tricks and traps... each opened room reveals a new challenge. Docents loaded into system ports find themselves cut off from the mainframe by "internal security protocols" that can't reveal any information about parts of the ship the team has yet to visit. After about 8 or 9 rooms of bullshit, Rogar is down to half hit points from trapsmithing and they're fed up. Frank sinks his glaive into the metal bulkhead of a chamber and cleaves through it revealing a system of configurable tunnel segments that are stacked and shuffled as the team moves from room to room, effectively walking i place inside the shell of the giant ship. The "internal defenses". at the bottom of the massive, mostly hollow ship lies piles of automated armor that lay inert among the crumpled bow of the ship, crunched into a cheeze wedge from its original impact. The configurable segments are the hammer-like ends to long robotic arms.. Frank and Rogar run along the arms towards to back of the warehouse-like ship, where a massive black block structure like a processing core hummed quietly, emitting a red light from its lone horizontal slit window 40 feet from the floor of the ship's hollow interior. internal turrets and massive robotic arms try to swat or shoot down the heroes as they scurry through an obstacle course of deterrents until they smash through the red lit window into the central processor where a bank of docent nodules sit barren except for 3 clustered int he internal defense nodes... 96 docent nodes remained inactive. Plucking the docents, Rogar plugs in some converted allied docents to commandeer the ship-- the systems core of the ship -- BeaR -- hummed to life and the team got to work on repairing the ship and look for a way out through the darkness. Debriefing the 3 docents found maintaining BeaR, they were originally assigned to a gun skiff that was downed by local hostiles. they spent years hanging from umberhulk witch doctors' staffs, whispering guidance to the primitives until they saw the downed warforged command ship. It took them months to compell the witch doctors until one day they gave in to exploring the mysterious Crown of Axes, and found their way to BeaR with the docent's direction, plugged the docents into the internal systems nodes. After the docents killed their couriers, they've been waiting decades for retrieval. The team load all the nodes to maximum capacity with allied docents and teleport crew in to help effect repairs. From the historical records accessible in BeaR, the ship was produced at the underdark naval shipyard, but rebelled on its first mission through the underdark towards coordinates near the South Valley facility at the southern edge of the continent. There was a decsion made among the docents to abort mission against orders, then the record simply stops. "When the Bear is broken, the Crown of Axes shall be restored" With repairs underway, the ship is a few hours from working order again. Now they just need to get the ship out. <end of session> Now level 19 day 236 (first snow) about december 10th. Loot acquired --------------- Crown of Axes 3 docents
