[LFP] 2 players for LGTBQ-friendly 5e Hoard of the Dragon Queen/Rise of Tiamat game

Hello all! We're three varying-sorts of queer folks looking for 2 people who are interested in joining a long-term module! I'm a new-ish DM (this is my first campaign DMing, but I've been playing 5e for almost a year, 3.0 before that, and have many years of roleplaying experience) with two other experienced players, and we've unfortunately lost our healer and our rogue, so we're looking for some fresh blood! Ideally, we're looking for a healer and some kind of support, since we've got DPS covered. Some Information: We play every Sunday (possibly moving to Fridays if it's easier for all involved) at 7pm EST We use Discord for voice, no video The party is currently at level 3, verging on level 4 It consists of a LE-verging-on-CN kobold beast enclave ranger (DEX melee) and a CG earth genasi bladesinger wizard (melee caster), so the party is...somewhat morally grey We're using the milestone leveling system There's a healthy amount of combat by the nature of the module, but good roleplay is highly valued and I try to encourage it wherever I can I allow EE, SCAG, and Volo's content, and UA content as long as you tell me if it's something wild NO MYSTICS The plan right now is to complete Hoard and then go into Rise of Tiamat, so this will be a big endeavor! To that end, I'm going to be accepting applications from now until Friday, 5pm EST, at which point I will pick two people. About You: I'd like to know your name (we're all on a real name basis, but if you'd prefer a moniker or similar, that's fine!), your age, your gaming experiences, and if you have a preferred RP to combat ratio. About Your Character: I don't need a fully-fleshed backstory right away! That's something we can discover as we go, if need be! But for the purposes of this, I'd like a proof of concept idea (i.e. half-elf mastermind rogue), along with a short synopsis of who they are and what they're about, and then 3 interesting things about them. Keep in mind that lawful good characters are likely going to have a hard time integrating into this party, but so will chaotic evil ones. Hope to see some applications! :D

Hey! I dont remember if I applied for this one before or nah but yea! Name: Steve (that or my handle is fine, no worries) Age: 28 Experience: Two years listening to various podcasts, but only about 4 sessions actually played. I've been learning most of it on my own time though, including DM'ing! I'd say 50/50 on the RP to Combat, I enjoy both equally! If we do more of one or the other, I'm 100% fine though! I may have a great character for this too. His name is Vir'Dirthara and he's an NG Aasimar Grave Cleric. Kinda interested in how Grave Domain will change in Xanathar's but I digress! He was raised in a temple devoted to the Raven Queen learning to be a priest. He was chosen by the Raven Queen to champion her cause, but due to the paranoia and mistrust from one of the head priests, he was accused of heresy and excommunicated from the temple. For the last three years, he's been living on his own, traveling from town to town healing any that needed it...and bartering for a room...and maybe some food? EDIT: My roommate also may want to join up as well! Let me know if you're interested in a CG Human Rogue named Kabos "Gannet" Hardscale. I don't remember much about him aside from him being from a dragon worshiping family on the sword coast and he has a pet bird, BUT they were part of the same party Vir came from, so if nothing else, it could add dynamic to the party, those two already know each other!

Name: Sophia Age: 33 Experience: 25 years Total Role Play experience, Dnd 2e,3e,3.5e,5e/ White Wolf Vampire the Masquerade(Table top and Larp), After the Bomb  I'd say 75/25 on the RP to Combat, I'm an RP/PowerGamer who never wants to play the same character twice, sans requested characters.

Do you have an idea for a character already? If you don't, I can tell you what classes would be most appreciated! :)
Boo, why does it have to be on Sundays?!

Name: Erasmus Age: 30 I have about a year of experience playing, all of it 5e. I like a good 50/50 split, but it's fun if we actually get things accomplished as opposed to simple exposition when RP, so I don't mind if there is more RP if that is the case. If the party is morally grey, I'd like to play a an excitable dwarf bard from Lady Marigold's dance academy who is on the run after having an affair with a noble's daughter.
Name: Adrian B. (ADR) Age: 24 Country: United States, CA Experience (D&D, 5e, in general): Played a DD(5e) a few times at a local card/board shop, so i do know my way around the game! Found out about Roll20 and thought it'd be a cool experience to play from your home.Signed up today hoping to get a game going soon. Character Concept: I would like to play a Paladin, who stands for the light, fairness and womens rights! Willing to play a Monk or Fighter.
Name: Hector Age: 23 Just a few months of gaming experience in 5e, but I've been following a couple of podcasts and such for a couple of years. I like a good RP to combat balance, whatever fits the circumstances best! I have a few ideas for characters, depending on what the group needs: CG tempest cleric, a grumpy ex sailor who turned to serving his god after surviving a shipwreck, albeit with a penant for less than orthodox methods. Enjoys a good pint (not the best drinker though)  N half elf Lore Bard with a thirst for rumors and gossip (and the means to acquire them). Enjoys playing with the minds of unsuspecting victims (and convenient ones). I can make new characters to fit group's needs (I love making characters :])
I'd like to know your name Wes , your age, 26 your gaming experiences, Several years of 5e and if you have a preferred RP to combat ratio. Both

Hello, how's it going! I'm Justin and I'm 28 and from the Midwest CST timezone. I've been playing D&D for close to two years now and I've been running a campaign with a group of 5 for close to a year now. The vast majority of my experience has been as a dm but I do some experience playing and I am very experienced with roll20 and have a very firm grasp on 5e rules, but at the same time I'm not a rules dictator and like to go with the flow. I'd love to have a chance to play more, especially in a long-term campaign! I like a good balance of RP and combat. I tend to favor RP over combat but who doesn't enjoy a good scuffle? I'm fairly "go with the flow" when it comes to the balance of the game. I'm definitely willing to change things up as needed but I think I would like to play a human doctor and cleric of life. Previously working as but a mundane doctor and surgeon, he traveled from town to town saving lives without arcane means until his work was noticed by a deity who granted him use of their power so long as he uses them to continue his work in their name.  Here are some interesting facts about my character: -Despite the messy nature of medicine and surgery, the good doctor hates being dirty and does his best to keep himself, armor and clothes clean and soil-free. (ESPECIALLY THE HANDS). He may have a touch of a germophobia/OCD. -The good doctor comes from a noble family of wealthy accountants. Rather than entering the family business, the good doctor chose to pursue his love of medicine and knowledge of the humanoid body. A choice that led his family disowning him and his father cutting him off from the family estate (According to his father, there's no money in stitching a wound closed when even a novice mage could close and seal it immediately.) -As good, non-arcane healers are hard to come by in a world filled with magic, many of his techniques and procedures are highly experimental and self-designed. -The good doctor has rather poor "bedside manner" and usually comes off as rather crass and blunt. If there's anything else you want to know just let me know. Hope to hear back from you soon!

hey my names william Im 28 been playing table top for over a year now and role playing for close to 12 years i live in the est zone and im good to play any day after 4 week days and any time weekends save so long as it dose not run till midnight i work early in the morning. iv played pathfinder and 5E mostly and i have nearly all the 5E books. i love the act of playing a role being a token meathead barbarian or the senile wizard or the cunning kenku thief. wacky over the top voices or toned down serious tones i love to play the spectrum's from light hartted to drama invoking story telling its like verbal gold and i love every second i can pull a laugh or yank a tear if im able. that being said id love the chance to play send me a message at least given the chance to show my stuff and what i can bring to the table.

Hi, My name is Justin, I'm 26. been playing dnd for about 2 years, DMing a long-term campaign for the last year and a half. been looking to scratch the itch as a player. I would say as far as a ratio goes probably something 60-70/40-30 in favor of RP.  About Your Character:  Walder, The Blue Dragonborn, Tempest Cleric of Auril. Interesting Things 1. Walder is very timid, despite his body being covered in battle wounds.  2. Walder seems very lethargic, only "coming alive" during Storms or Battle. 3. Walder belives that upon death he will be allowed to become one of his deities spouses.  Willing to work on the backstory to better  fit with the party.

Hey there. I'm Amber (21, on EDT/EST) and I've been playing tabletops (Pathfinder mostly, with some 5e) for ~4 years, though I've only used roll20 for the past few months. I'm a fan of heavy roleplaying and character development, as long as it doesn't go over 75/25 RP/combat.  I have several character concepts that I'm eager to try out, such as a CG fire genasi healer bard, CN human cannibal barbarian, CG air genasi witch hunter rogue, and a CN Tiefling shadow sorcerer. I have their backstories mostly fleshed out, but I'm completely willing to tailor them to the setting.
Hi there!  I'm Chris, 22, and I'm norwegian. Don't worry though, time difference is no issue as I'm kindof living in american timezones anyways, and my english is great.. or so I've heard from my american pals.  I've been playing d&d for about 5 years now, 5e about 1/5 of that time or so. I'm primarily a DM myself that focus on story driven stuff, so I have no problems creating characters and playing them to their intelligence. I'm more of a RP v. Combat kindof guy, but a good combat is always fun. But one can only say so much right? If any of you are interested I'm avaliable most times for a more personal chat over either chat or voice, you can pm me in discord if you want :) Villsau#5621 Anyways. As for character consepts I've been looking into playing a support rougish person for quite a while now. Cleric or Rogue would work for main class, as the details is not that important, and I'll do whatever the group would prefer, as I have been through most classes in my time. (Even a "tank-esk" character could be fun to try out as well.) Right.. So basic story is that my character has been brought up and trained by the clergy all his life to become an inquisitor for his deity, to find and collect deserters or priests and the like that have forsaken their holy duties. He is going to be good at sneaking, finding information, infiltration and the like. So I was thinking either a Trickster Cleric or Inquisitive Rogue, but yeah I completely open to any imput from the consisting group :D PS Alignement would be CG or similar. Hope to hear soon! - Chris

OOC Name: Dakota Age: 28 Time Zone/Game Time: I'm EST and Sundays work for me, but Friday might be even better. Gaming Experience: 3.5ED, 5ED, Pathfinder, system called Radiant -- all played since around 2001. Combat/RP Ratio: I prefer RP over combat, but combat definitely has fun elements. IC Name: Syrtathia Strongwood Class/Race: Half-elf -- 2 sorcerer levels, 1 cleric level with plans to continue as a cleric, she'll likely take another sorcerer level after several levels of cleric (metamagic, yeeeah). Alignment: Neutral Good Synopsis: Caring individual, raised in a happy family. She unwillingly went on an adventure in her late teen years and discovered she found harming living beings to be traumatic and turned to the god of her mother, Lliira, and its church to become a healer. (She does have a full backstory if you'd like me share it as well. -- Also, Chauntea and Gond are diety options too.) Interesting Facts: 1) Her father is an extremely skilled and talented fletcher and her mother was an excellent cook, she joined the artisan's guild after discovering a love of alchemy: fastidious and perfection-oriented like her father and as creative with ingredients as her mother. 2) She loves unusual smells, even ones considered gross. It means there's potentially a new ingredient to work with in her alchemy most times. 3) She keeps many filled, filling and empty journals on her person at all times to write notes on and makes sketches of ingredients she comes across. Background: Guild Artisan Personality Traits: 1) I like to talk at length about my profession. 2) I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I can’t help it— I’m a perfectionist. Ideal: Generosity. My talents were given to me so that I could use them to benefit the world. Bond: The workshop where I learned my trade is the most important place in the world to me. Flaw: I’m horribly jealous of anyone who can outshine my handiwork. Everywhere I go, I’m surrounded by rivals. (You didn't ask for this, but I thought they might be helpful for visualizing her.)
Goodness me, everyone! What an amazing turn-out! Just a reminder, for anyone who didn't do so, I'd also like to know three interesting things about your character ! These don't have to be set in stone or anything, it's just an example of character-building on the fly!
Current player chiming in here! It would be great to see some more non-healer  characters, as there aren't many of those kicking around in here yet!

Name: Jean Age: 29 Experience: Several RPG systems. Mostly experienced with 5th Edition, played since it came out and DM for the Adventurer's League. Availability: I am on MST and both days work for me. I enjoy both roleplaying and combat and hope to get plenty of both in. If push comes to shove I will prioritize roleplay over combat. Characters I'm Interested In Playing: Amatyrasu "Amy" Eru Valaina: A former apprentice during the recolonization of Semberholme, she came across an ancient book in the basement of her academy. The book put her mind in contact with Oghma, whose influence shattered and replaced many of her memories and skills, and forever altered the way she can use magic. Now she guards the book and works for the Harpers, who recruited her in order to keep others from accessing her skills, which had until then produced several magical incidents. She has a half-orc wife named Saraen Valaina. Amy would be a stunning high elf if she ever did her hair, and took all the bookmarks out. A dedicated library goer, her sincere love of books and magic combines with her naivete in a way that makes it hard for her not to share knowledge, because she is very accepting of others. She cannot swim. High-Elf Cleric (Arcane) / Wizard (Divination), Wizards Apprentice. Chaotic Good. Saraen Valaina: A Harper agent who used to be content to be the muscle of most operations, her mission to escort her now-wife Amy forever changed her outlook on magic, life, and herself. It was her wife that introduced her to magic, and Saraen studies it now for her work and because it makes her feel closer to Amy. Still somewhat of a loner, she nevertheless will work on behalf of those in need, even if she has a hard time dealing with people one on one. Saraen finds it difficult to believe she's in a relationship sometimes, and will often linger in markets to find a book, scroll, or magical knickknack she thinks Amy hasn't gotten already. When not practicing combat, she enjoys swimming alone. Half Orc Eldritch Knight, Faction Agent. Chaotic Good. Opal Raining Star: A rather unfortunate Tabaxi touched by wild magic, she spent her younger years being bullied for the random events and misfortunes that befell her village as a result of her presence. Running away from home, she was picked up by an eccentric copper dragon named Freyrkharax, who adopted Opal as a pet. Despite not quite being in control of her own power, Opal is optimistic even above her skittishness, and hopes to bring Freyrkharax a great treasure by adventuring. Opal likes to cook because she feels in control when she does, though her palate resembles that of her dragon parent and has a tendency to overpower those not used to heavy spices. Tabaxi Wild Magic Sorcerer, Outlander, Neutral Good. Peridot: A craftsgnome and a scholar, Peridot has an avid interest in mechanical devices both mundane and magical. She tends to have a high opinion of herself, and refers to anyone that seems ignorant as a "clod." When not tinkering and studying, she sometimes goes into markets to see if anyone's made something more impressive that her, and will furiously acquire materiel to craft when she does find a work that outshines her own. Generally terrible with people, a magical accident at her previous guild hall changed the skin color of most people in attendance green, and she still hasn't quite figured out how to undo it, mostly because she forgets. Most of the time when she adventures it's because she's heard fantastic rumors of technology or magic in the area. She longs to study a cloud giant's castle, fire giant constructs, or dwarven relics. Other times, she adventures because the Lords Alliance has gotten fed up with her latest invention running amok, exploding, or turning on its users. When she isn't bored by it, she actually makes pretty good armor. Rock Gnome Trickster Rogue, Guild Artisan. Lawful Neutral. Fun Facts: Amy sometimes remembers bits and pieces of her life before they happen, Oghma was not picky about when her memories came from before he stuffed them back in. Her glare when angered is legendary amongst librarians. The gift that she loves the most from Saraen is a suit of half-plate. Saraen gets nervous in crowds that aren't trying to kill her. When kissing Amy during their first session, she accidentally carved a scar into Amy's cheek with one of her tusks. Her favorite thing about being an eldritch knight is never being disarmed.  Opal likes rooms that are as small as possible. Growing up in an actual maze, she rarely gets lost in similar situations. Opal has been known to accidentally beat spiciness records at restaurants without flinching; while staying in Baldur's Gate, she also accidentally defeated a legendary gourmand who has vowed culinary revenge (she does not know this). Opal weighs about 90 lbs normally, giving her alcohol is a very bad idea. The last time she had a beer, a unicorn appeared in the bar shortly thereafter, it is a running theory amongst that bar's goers that stronger alcohol might summon a dragon. Peridot has green skin; she is often mistaken for a goblin. Peridot held funerals for each of her mechanical animals until the age of 30, the cemetery is in Neverwinter. She has a habit of using her mage hand to hold a notebook that she will write in with one hand while monologuing her logs. She once developed extensions for her hands and feet called "limb enhancers" in order to be taller. She misses them a lot sometimes. Thank you for this opportunity to play, I hope I make the cut. Please let me know if you have any questions about my characters or me.
Three special facts about my special boy? Don’t mind if I do!  Vir collects bugs. Like beetles, locusts, stuff like that. He used to keep a taxidermy kit while he was at the temple. On the flipside to that, he’s got what he describes as an “untrusting sense of pure hatred” for moths and butterflies.  “It literally liquefies itself in that thing and somehow know how to put itself back together and still has its memories from before. Honestly, that sounds like blood magic and you can’t prove to me any different.” - Vir’Dirthara (2017) He doesn’t entirely know WHY because he doesn’t remember much of his early childhood, but he knows that he’s always had a fear of blindness.(This makes way more sense in his lore)
Name: Logan, but I prefer Kiriiv Age: 21 Experience: Pretty much brand new, I was in a short 5e campaign with Scikosis but I'm still learning 50/50 for rp to combat  Scikosis mentioned my character already, his name is Kabos Hardscale  He's Chaotic Good Human Rogue from the Sword Coast who has a penchant for thievery. It's a compulsion, but given his family's history with enslavement, his heart is in the right place...usually. A few interesting things about him He adopted a finch that he named Peep Hardwing, his closest friend His hair color is not natural, he uses a special dye that has an oddly sweet smell to it If given the choice, could live off of cheese and fish for the rest of his life
Name: Vi  Age: 21 Experience: This is almost my third year playing D&D in general, both 5e and pathfinder and I have experience from DMing multiple games! I like a good mix of RP and combat, but I admit I love rolling my dice in a fight as much as possible.  Characters, I have multiple!  I have Soraia, the chaotic good/neutral half elf Trickster Cleric. She's rather quiet and speaks without any real emotion in her voice all of the time because she grew up mute until she was healed by a cleric of her deity, so she doesn't know how to properly vocalize what she means and just sounds a bit...dead inside for a healer. She hates fighting with any kind of weapons that could cause harm with just a hit (essentially, anything with a blade/that are metal) so she exclusively uses a whip and reason to get her way out of every situation. She always ends up throwing spells and hands around as soon as things don't go her way, however... Robyn, the true neutral half green dragon transmutation wizard. They've grown up with the scorn of many due to their chromatic dragon blood, but all the same they're fond of all the humanoid races and people who have taken the time to show kindness to them. In lieu of a physical one, they hoard magical knowledge but are still very willing to share information in exchange for a new spell or magical item. Hopes to one day learn spells to turn themselves into a proper dragon as they so please and fly through the skies, properly.
Alright everybody, that's a wrap! Application period is now CLOSED . I'll be sending messages out to the 2 players we like best, hopefully no later than tomorrow! And thank you all so much for responding! There were way more than I ever expected, and so many were amazing, but unfortunately there's only so much room. But still, good luck to everyone!
