[LFP] [D&D 5e] GM Looking for players for one-shots, potential campaign

Edited 1510196682
Hello All, I'm looking for players who would be interested in running some upcoming one-shot games, as the title suggests. I'm hoping to run a handful of said one-shots until I find a number of players who are open-minded, kind, and create a welcome environment for role-playing and fun. Once we've built a solid group (or groups) of players who are interested in starting up a campaign, I would like to either collaboratively create a setting using microscope/kingdom, or all pitch in for a module. I would also be okay with taking on the task of creating everything, but It may take a bit longer as I am a busy guy. I would like to run something either weekly or biweekly. I have not spent much time as a GM on Roll 20, so I would ask for everyone's patience while I learn this platform and, as thus, some of my content may be more theater of the mind until I get the hang of everything. Tactical combat will be no issues, but making all the macros/commands and porting content to Roll20 in an immersive and beautiful fashion will probably be a no go until I have some more time to figure things out. I've started watching Youtube videos, and researching a bit, but this would be a lot smoother and immersive if we ran a module. I am okay with text, voice, or video communication, but my preferred is generally voice only as my webcam sucks and I haven't bought a new one yet. I have 4-5 players right now, with a loose time slot on specific days (when the planets align just right), but I would love to fill in the gaps and get more games going! I am not a Pro subscriber at the moment, but I would be willing to buy it if we can find a good pool of players and get a consistent schedule going. I'm hesitant to drop a lot of money at the moment, as many of these books I already own the physical copies of . I have played and DMed a lot of games offline, and I am very passionate about D&D, so I hope to meet new friends and go on incredible adventures. What I expect from my players: - Open Mindedness / Judgement free - Kindness / Respect for everyone else at the "table" - Come prepared to play. (Know your character and their skills/abilities/etc, look up spells before your turn, take care of outside business) - Open communication, with other players as well as myself I am okay with new or inexperienced players so long as they conform to the above. I care more about what kind of person you are, and how well we all work together, rather than how many gaming hours you have under your belt. I am always okay with helping folks learn how to play the game, but it would need to be mostly before the session so to not be disrespectful to the other players (who are taking the time out of their busy days) . Questions or back and forth are also okay during the game, I'm just looking to avoid the situation where an individual has no idea how to play their character and has put forth no effort whatsoever to try and learn. Those are the kind of situations that frustrate other players and limit how much fun we all have as a group. Discord: https://discord.gg/GsJqzFd <-- Feel free to jump in and talk to me, If I am online. UPDATE: Lots of people came to the discord, so please feel free to pop in and chat freely! We are thinking of trying a west marches campaign ATM! What Players should expect from me:- Everything listed above in the player's section - Respect for the mechanics, but Flexible so long as it makes sense, is reasonable, and does not happen constantly (see below - Rewarding players for being true to the narrative, their characters, good role-playing, and creativity. (Bonus XP, special plot hooks, rule flexibility, boons, etc) - Generally speaking 60-70% Role-playing & Exploration, 30-40% Combat encounters. (Can vary a bit with one-shots though) - Availability from 8:00pm - 12:00am (Eastern Time) most days Thanks for reading everyone, and If you are interested in playing together please reply in the format below. Try to be as specific as possible about days/times that you are available, as I have an excel file that helps me group players by availability to make a game. My Name is : Charlie My Timezone is: PST My Availability is: Thursday-Saturdays, all day My D&D 5e experience is: Played for almost two years now, been GM'ing a homebrew for about a year and half. Preferred communication is (any that apply) [ ] Text [x] Voice [if necessary] Video Quick Bio : As stated, my name is Charlie, I'm currently working at a group home for at risk youth half the week, and twiddling my thumbs the other half, so very interested in joining a game. My D&D went from like 5 sessions a week to just the one I DM, so looking to be a player again to break it up. I'm quiet at first, but get along well with most people, I like to make sure everyone gets a time to shine in any group setting. Let me know if you need anything else/more from me, and hope to hear back!
My name is: Ishaan My time zone is: eastern(I live in Virginia) My availability is: usually anytime Saturday and afternoon Sunday My dnd 5e experience is: I haven’t played 5e, so I’m a new player. I also wanna learn DM tips my prefered communication is (any that apply) [x] text [x] Voice [if necessary] video quick bio: I’m a 13 year old who lives in Virginia (as stated before). I’ve seen people play and it looks really cool, so I want to try it out. I’m open to new experiences/ people, and I do crack jokes sometimes. I’m also a bit of a nerd. P.S: I’m also partially color blind.
My Name is : Michael My Timezone is: EST I believe, live in GA My Availability is: Just about any day of the week except for Fridays. I have a group I play with, usually on Friday night, but it happens sporadically during the week as well sometimes. My D&D 5e experience is: I've been playing D&D for...at least 6 years or so now maybe? Been playing 5e specifically since about the time it came out. I'm typically the DM and run stories in a homebrew world I created. Preferred communication is (any that apply) [x ] Text [x ] Voice [ ] Video Quick Bio : I prefer to go by Michael, but I have many nicknames so as long as I know you mean me, feel free to call me whatever. I'm 26 and I got my friends into D&D years ago and have sort of been leading the charge ever since. We played a little 3.5, then 4e, then Pathfinder for a bit, and then I brought in 5e when it came around. I'm a writer, or at least I want to be, so I love storytelling and world building. As I said before, usually I am the DM, but it's gotten to where 3 out of the 4 people in my group are DM'ing their own games now and so we have to switch between 3 settings. My group usually plays something on Friday nights, sometimes Saturday depending on how everyone feels. We also randomly might play a game during the week. But aside from Friday's my schedule is pretty much an open book. I'm also somewhat new to roll20 and am okay with Skype or Discord, use both a lot.
My Name is : Chris. Going by photogenesis in discord. My Timezone is: EST My Availability is: Generally about 7-8 pm EST to a reasonable time at night. My D&D 5e experience is: I DM for a group of my friends IRL on a regular basis, since 2015. Never played before that. Preferred communication is (any that apply) [x] Text [x] Voice [x] Video Quick Bio : I'm Chris. Very extraverted, so I can come off strong. Just let me know and I'll tone it down. Otherwise, I have a boring bank job and a couple of cats. I live with my girlfriend of 9 years. Hobbies include D&D, fencing, chess, piano. Let me know if I can play with ya!
My Name is : Kat My Timezone is:CST My Availability is:Tuesday and Wednesday nights My D&D 5e experience is: been playing for almost 2 years Preferred communication is (any that apply) [ ] Text [x ] Voice [x ] Video Quick Bio : I'm older than most other people in this thread so we'll just leave it at that. I'm experienced in 5e and even dm'd one game (but I am no means an expert!). I'm open to most things and I'm in the game mostly for the rp aspect, not the die or min/maxing. I am currently in 2 other current games right on on Roll 20 and seem to be free mostly Wednesday evenings.

My Name is: Lunar (Not really comfortable throwing out my real name) My Timezone is: Eastern Time My Availability is: 5 p.m. to whenever on any day. My D&D 5e experience is: I've read some of the rulebook, made a character, and played one session with some friends. Preferred communication is (any that apply) [x] Text [x] Voice [ ] Video Quick Bio: Hey, I'm Lunar. I am 17 years old and pretty introverted. When I'm not dealing with the responsibilities of life, I'm on the computer; browsing the web or playing games with friends. This is my first time seeking to play an Rpg outside my group of friends, so I'm kind of outside my comfort zone.
My Name is : Ryan My Timezone is: GMT My Availability is: Will generally be fine for 8pm-12am Eastern though might struggle towards the later times on weekdays My D&D 5e experience is: Very limited, I've played a few fairly long sessions but only on one character Preferred communication is (any that apply) [] Text (whilst completely willing it'd be less ideal as it's more time consuming) [x] Voice [x] Video Quick Bio : I'm 23 and from England, I'd like to think I'm a pretty nice guy, I'm a patient person and I like to think I've got what it takes to be a really good role-player, hopefully being able to give an honest portrayal of a character (which is the whole reason I want to play DnD, the combat can make things interesting sure but bringing a character to life is what excites me) I'm pretty new though and might need a hand with more technical elements though enthusiasm won't be a problem
https://app.roll20.net/users/2608833/diimiitrii Should be everything there you need, except Voice and Video =) prefefred. As you can see I do not really want to type all that into your suggested format ;)
My Name is : Munshee / Ace (whichever is easier) My Timezone is: GMT+1 My Availability is: Most days from 8pm-1am my time My D&D 5e experience is: I have played a few sessions so I know some of the basics but I would still count myself as a newbie Preferred communication is (any that apply) [x] Text (works best for me) [x] Voice [ ] Video Quick Bio : I'm 27 and in germany atm. Just finished my master's degree and gonna take some time off and relax. I think I am a pretty relaxed guy when it comes to most things. What I like most about dnd is how everyone contibutes to the story.
My Name is: Ryan (I can go by Radio as well since it seems there's another Ryan interested) My Timezone is: EST My Availability is: Almost always in the 8pm-12am slot My D&D 5e experience is: None. I haven't played many RPGs at all. Past experience was a few sessions of Shadowrun and a session of CoC. I'll probably hang around in the discord to catch either you or one of the others to try and learn a bit and get a character put together. Preferred communication is (any that apply) [ ] Text [X] Voice [X] Video (Don't care either way about this) Quick Bio: Hi, I'm Ryan. I'm 18 in college and the last time I played an RPG was on Roll20 a few years ago. I used to get a bit too quiet and passive at times and that made my last attempts at playing RPGs somewhat awkward, but I've changed quite a bit since then and I hope that this would work out better. A general consensus my friends have is that I'm probably the most calm and collected person among them.
