[AMA] The Color Animal Inn, live GM, right now. Newbie questions, advice, general chat, etc.

GAME OVER Thanks for playing everyone. Watch for more games in the future! Well, I've got some time to kill today, so I think I'm going to spend it setting up some new assets for my players. And since it's boring as heck doing that, I thought I'd do something different... So, for the next couple hours, I invite anyone who wants to, to come visit me at  The Color Animal Inn {link deleted] ! I have about 30 years +/- experience in RPGs, starting with the red-box set of Dungeons and Dragons, and currently primarily using Pathfinder's ruleset.  I wouldn't say I'm The Best GM Evar , but I get by and I think my players have fun, so there's that. If you're new to Roll20, new to RPGaming, or just want to chat, come on in! I'll share advice, tips, and bad jokes, until I get bored and shut it down. If enough people show up and feel like it, I have a few one-shot-type scenarios ready to go, and we might even play a bit! So if you're as bored as I am, or just wanna hang out, come on in! Phnord is a pretty good GM, and has a nice mic voice, so it is always worth the effort to join :)

I've got two folks in here making characters, looks like we're going to get a bit of a crawl in tonight. Hoping for at least one (I prefer 3-6 players) to come join us... Remember, NO experience is needed! Roll20 and I do all the work, you get to have the fun! -Phnord
Thanks to everyone who came out, we had a fun time splashing around! Following Barth the Bartender's directions, the party found themselves at a tree stump in the woods. From there, they explored the surrounding area, and found a pool of clear, still water at the base of a cliff. Being thirsty from all the walking, the northern barbarian "Ruined" thought this would be a good place to refill  her waterskin. She did so, until a glob of gelatinous goo slimed its way up from the bottom of the water to try to attack her. She and her companions sliced, chopped, shot, and blasted the various ameobas living in this pond until they were all dead, then found the corpse of a magic-user at the bottom. They took its spell component pouch, which they believe leaked into the water and formed the ameobas, and found some nice trinkets inside, then moved on. Somewhat further along, they saw a giant frog perched at the top of a waterfall. A single critical shot from a bow blinded it, and a second shot turned it into food, so they went to gather its corpse. Something odd, looking like another body buried behind the waterfall, drew their attention, and Ruined investigated. Unfortunately she slipped, falling into the water (a natural 1 swim check) and knocking herself unconscious (another nat-1!). Fortunately the party was prepared, and had a rope tied around her for just such an occasion! With some struggle (another nat-1, but with TWO nat-20s!) they were able to eventually pull her free, but just as Ruined was getting her breath, a water elemental (the 'something odd' they'd seen) reached up and grabbed her leg, trying to pull her back into the waterfall to her almost certain death. A short combat defeated the elemental, and the group butchered the frog, finding some nice herbs and spices with which to flavor it, having themselves a nice dinner before returning to The Color Animal Inn for the night. I had a lot of fun with this one, and hope to see y'all again in the future! Thanks for playing! -Phnord ps: Watch the forums, I'll be doing this again very soon!
