The start date will be some time in the new year. Probably a Friday night, but exact details yet to be agreed. Initially the frequency will be monthly as I don't have a great deal of spare time at the moment. However, I hope to move to every other week in due course. While the style of play may be more suitable for experienced players, I welcome new players to roll20. This will not be a game for the fainthearted, as the style of play is gritty realism with an "Old School" feel rather than the usual heroic D&D fantasy game. Rule variants like massive damage and lingering injuries will be used as well as incorporating combat rule concepts from other rule sets such as HackMaster and some of my own ideas to add to the gritty realism of the game. The result is that even lowly goblins are capable of taking down a character, so combat should not be entered lightly. For me, the most enjoyable aspect of RPGs is the fun & interesting interactions between players as well as with the DM. Such friendly camaraderie between strangers may take time to develop, but as DM I look for those players who I believe will be a positive influence on the game. I will therefore need to interview any prospective new players over skype or discord. If you haven't guessed, the campaign setting is the World of Greyhawk...! :) The intention is for each three hour session to have an adventure concluded that same night, so the campaign can be considered as a series of connected one-shots. By finishing an adventure within a single session it means that it is not essential that all players make every session in order to maintain the momentum of the campaign. However, level advancement is session-based, so missing too many sessions will mean that a significant gap in levels will develop between your character and the party. An adventure may possibly be based on the back story of a character if there is scope to do so and the player is agreeable. A headset is a must requirement as well as a sense of humour! :) Sessions last up to 3 hours with a scheduled break around the half way point but players can always excuse themselves if they need to break away from the game for a few minutes. Please send me a PM giving brief details of your gaming experience and why the gritty realism style of play appeals to you. Lastly, I'm based in the UK so please confirm that a 6.30pm GMT start time is ok.
