Where to start?

Hello, I'm new to DnD and i've been looking around for information on how to play this type of game, this "Roll 20" game site looks like a good place to start and meet the community. I'm just wondering if anyone can guide me in the right direction cause i have no idea "where to start" haha. (see what i did there? ;3) Anyway, it's pretty late now so i'll check this topic later on, see yeah ^^
Well, if you have the book then you are on the right track. Now, decide on which edition you want to play. In this topic you should post about what game you want to play. There are alot of D&D players here who are active and ready to play. I recommend finding a game or bringing a game together. Best of luck. -Richard Crites
Yeah welcome. I gamemaster a Lord of the Rings game using a system called One Ring. There are lots of different games. Cyberpunk theme, Anime' theme, and of course fantasy is well represented as well as Cthulhu, which is based on H. P. Lovecraft. Look around in looking for game, and apply to a group.
Ok, so i was looking at this game type called D20 , i saw someone post this link in another topic and he referred it as "3.5 SRD". So anyway, I go to this site and read some of the rules, but I'm all like... facepalm.jpeg. And then i look at the Character Ref sheet for "D@D 3.5e"here at http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.ph , and i got really overwhelmed by the amount of information i felt like i was filling out a job application for CEO at Microsoft or something haha. I kinda get the jest of it, but i think I'm just going to keep researching the game modes and the rules until i know what I'm doing.
I think everyone remembers the first time they look at a character sheet, Scruffy. I was overwhelmed as well! If you'd like a walkthrough of character generation, I'd be happy to show you how to do it. Will you be free tomorrow?
Yeah, I'll PM you.
Since this post doesn't seem to be recruiting for a specific game, I'll move it to off-topic.
