Generic Macros

Is it possible as a GM to create generic Macros that all players can access using the #macro call? I'd like to be able to setup some generic attack rolls and such to wrap in some token macros, but don't want to have to re-write the same player token macros over and over again if it can be avoided. Thanks.

If you mean token macros (the ones at the top that appear when you select a token), then yes. Put the macro in your collections tab, and click the option to "Show as Token Action", and in the field below where it says "Visible to Players (Optional), select "All players". Or just select the players you wish to allow. Those macros will appear for a player whenever they select a token linked to a character they control. A typical use case for this is an Initiative button. They should also be usable in chat with a # call, regardless of whether you save them as token macros.

I believe if you create a global macro (sidebar|collection) that as long as you make Visible to Players(Optional): All Players.  Those macros can be called from any player using #macro.  Of course, the macro itself should include "select" and/or "target" attribute pointer/helpers. edit: lol. what Keith said.

Thanks for the quick reply. That looks like it'll work. Is it possible to grant players access to the macro without adding the generic macro to their bars? I'd prefer to nest the generic macro into a more user-readable token macro button specific to their character's actions. Alternatively, an option to dynamically name the Macro button for the player based on a character sheet value would work, too. Edit: Nevermind. Thanks keithcurtis and Vince. Between your two answers I've got a much better understanding of how to assign macros. Thanks for the help.

If they select "Show in bar" they can be renamed and colorized per player.  Or just create some generic macros that call the other global macros by name.

Aaron, since you're a Pro subscriber, you can also use an API script to automatically do this when a character sheet is created, which would put the macro on the character sheet (on the Abilities tab).
I have a master character sheet with all macros for all attack types on it. I duplicate it for a new character and then set appropriate ones as token action. There are several that are always enabled. Initiative, saves, ability checks, whispers
