There isn't any dot escalation, so each dot cost the same regardless how many you have before it. Players arnt forced to min max at creation to get the most out of their xp later. for supplement books, you really dont need any unless you're making a half vampire half alien fishman who used to be a spec ops ninja in 1774 and got ptsd from it. I'd disagree on the supplements if I'm honest, I'm big into Vampire and the various Bloodlines. I have no real issues with the 2.0 rules for the most part, I like the socialisation stuff, new xp rules and beats, conditions and integrity. What I'm not as keen on are the changes to the splats themselves, the new lore, the changes in disciplines and banes etc. For me 2.0 makes the Vampires especially SUPER cheesy. If everybody was on board I'd happily ST with a hybrid ruleset using the mechanics changes for the core rules in 2.0 with the lore and settings from the 1st edition. In my previous group I was the resident Vampire ST so that's where I'm most comfortable in the role, I'm just not sold on that side of the changes so stuck with what I preferred ergo not feeling as comfortable running a game under the revised setting. It's all down to the group though tbh, I'm open to playing anything it's just as a ST I want to deliver the best game I can and that's not going to be a straight 2.0 game if I'm honest.
