Hi, I am David, 26 years old with about a years experience in D&D 5e, I dm 2 different campaigns AD&D and 5e. I am looking to let go of the drivers wheel and become a player again, look below for my character conception: Description: Hector, an elder black Tiefling, His horns
broken down to the top of the skull, fingers long thing and nimble with clear
signs of aging, the only ring he wears a piece of copper forged into a thin
tubular ring.
As a child his Tiefling parents were thrown out of towns and
cities due to the superstition that Tieflings bring doom and bad luck to all
around.
Hector always tried to do right by people, standing up for
the little guy. His parents eventually settled on a farm, the farmer Jaksohn,
was an elderly man who would tell tales to Hector of his magnificent adventures
during his youth. Trained hector how to be quick, nimble, strong, courageous.
Eventually Both his parents and his mentor passed away, Hector was a young teen
and became disinterested in running the farm, the farm and barn went derelict
and running low on funds Hector made for the cities he remembered.
Ages:1-5 12 different homes in 12 different towns and
cities, he never stayed anywhere long enough to form those memories of a young
child that you should have, no childhood friends to make mud pies with he found
it hard to settle with strangers and soon became a loner.
Ages 6-7: He met Derunkai the genasi, she was of a similar
age to him and he would spend days at a time down by the waters edge in the
full knowledge that she had suffered similar discrimination, but with the side
of she had a home, her people were always going to be safe and to themselves.
Ages 7-9: Aged 7 his family once again moved well into the
countryside and away from civilisation fed up with the battle that they had to
put up with because of their ancestry. On his eighth year in existence he
remembers seeing the sky light up an amazing violet glow. In the distance Intrigued,
Hector decided there and then that the world was more then the green around
him.
Age 10: He started to learn from Jacksohn exactly how to
look after yourself in the wider world, along side the training in fighting
that Jaksohn taught him, Hector learnt the arts of trickery and manipulation.
Using these tricks to entertain Jaksohn and his parents, he wondered what else
these skills could be used for.
Ages 11-13: he was coming of age his demonic powers growing
inside him, scared of the thoughts of the world he found Jaksohns sword and cut
his horns down to try and look more normal.. His parents were shocked at this
action but accepted that the prejudices he had faced and decided to support him
in his decision. He learnt how to care for the animals and grow the crops on
the farm. He learnt everything he would need to know to survive in the world of
farm trade and self preservation
When he came of age at 14, Jaksohn offered to take him to
market, unsure of himself Hector accepted against his better judgement , on the
day he became incredibly afraid of the city and had not realised that he had
developed a fear of crowded places and the city. Hector Readied a disguise.
With his parents help Hector put on a wig made of sheeps hair and painted him a
dark tan so he looked more human, once again he filed down his horns and off he
set. He found that peoples naturally took to Jakor Omare. Jakor was Hectors
Alternate persona. When the guards asked for his papers, Hector Panicked and
ran to Jakson for help, the guards persuing him saw Hector hiding behind
jaksohn and on recognition immediately apologised and made an exception for
hector. Jaksohn got Hector his first papers of trade which after many hours
Hector learnt to forge so that Jakor omare may enter the city again.
Hector Went on like this for a number of years and as he
grew more skilled changed his disguises on occasion creating new papers. The
one thing he found was that people , that believed he was human, were kind and
took to him very quickly, he had a way with words.
When Hector Turned 17 Jaksohn sadly died along with hectors
parents 2 years later. From then on Hector Carried on running the farm and
trading as he had been shown, but the magic and laughter of his family had died
out. He became depressed and quickly the farm became decrepid, old and
dysfunctional, the animals died of starvation or were hunted by wild animals.
The soil dried up, became malnourished and caused the crops to eventually stop
growing all together.
Finding things had changed somewhat in the 12 years he grew
up on the farm, Tieflings were more incorporated into society. Unsure of how to
make his way he travelled from tavern to tavern washing dishes and clearing
tables there wasn’t any point to any of the work he done. The travellers he met
often told of strange goings on that he would look into, some were interesting,
others not so. But he had 1 rule never interfere… That was until a time in his
mid 30’s when he saw a young Tiefling child being beaten up in the street by 3 older
elf boys, enraged Hector removed his disguise, his black skin shimmering in the
moonlight his mustard yellow eyes like a cat caught in headlights, glowing with
fury. He dropped into the alleyway, his tail that he had hidden so well in the
crevasses’ of his trousers burst, this was the first time Hector had felt
purpose. After stabbing the first two boys through the chest hector turned on
the third. Unfortunately this one was not so easy, Hector ended up bloodied and
bruised, when he awoken the next morning the guards were trying to rouse him …
surprisingly they were not perturbed by the fact he was a tiefling, he did have
to explain about the two boys on the floor however, accusing the third elvish
boy of these crimes Hector was let off and got back to working in Taverns…
Eventually. In his early 40’s Hector became the hired help, tracking down
missing people and standing up for those in a struggle.
