About becoming a content creator for the Roll 20 Market Place

Hey guys, recently, i have been looking at the market place and noticed that people can submit content for money. I read it over and would really like to to join in on this opportunity, however, a couple questions have come to arise from me. 1. Can they pay me through pay-pal? 2. Can i use some of my makings and use it to support roll20? 3.How "chose y" are the staff about picking artists and packs and what-not. I understand that they need to be picky, and i very much appreciate that, but how picky are they? Also, it should be noted that i do not, in no way, expect to make a cash-cow from this; if i can make a few bucks from doing what i love, well, i would very much appreciate that! This is a wonderful opportunity that the roll20 staff has presented, and i will not take advantage if i am picked. Finally, that ending note wasn't some way to kiss up the Roll20 staff, i really do appreciate this service!

You're probably best emailing your Marketplace questions directly to the team at team@roll20.net. The Devs will be able to better provide you with all the answers you need regarding selling your work on the Marketplace.

As a content creator, here's a little insight from my end, although the actual Roll20 team can give you a better idea. 1. I get paid through Pay-pal. Once a month, if my earnings have cleared $25 or more, I get a deposit. Thus far, only the first month my content has been live has it not reached that amount. 2. I am certain that they would accept donations. 3. The process I went through was they first needed to ensure that I was capable of submitting quality products, and thus I sent a few samples of my work. Since then, every time I have a map pack finished, I contact them and send the picture for the "cover", at which point they arrange a method for me to upload my files via the website. Once I am finished, I send them another email, they look things over and make the set live and available for purchase. As I'm involved in content creation for a variety of other sites (Zazzle, CafePress, RPGNow, etc.) I have to say that Roll20 has perhaps one of the quickest response times, and one of the easiest upload interfaces.
Thank you all very much, especially you Simon!
Man, there are 'so' many things I still wanna see on Roll20! I wish I was an artist so I could put them in myself, but hey. Ever new guy on the marketplace is welcomed by me!
A lot of these questions are answered on the site currently, but I'm looking to do some overhaul: https://marketplace.roll20.net/home/becomecreator https://wiki.roll20.net/Creating_Marketplace_Asset... Like Simon says, there are a few quality checks-- initially to make sure both our time is well spent, then to check on what you're planning with a new pack, and finally to make sure the pack / tagging upload went okay. I think we've ended up with really high quality assets on the Marketplace as a result. As for how our picky-ness works, it really is about time well spent. It takes you time to make things, and us time to check them out (not to mention host them)... so we want to be certain there's a chance at sales. We aren't looking for every pack to be a gangbusters money-maker, but we are looking for them to be good enough that there's little doubting they're worth something! Good luck....

What exactly would you like to see? I'm sure that if someone makes a request, there's a pretty good chance that either myself, or another content artist, might pick up on the idea and create it. I have previously created the more "Generic" of concepts and projects, simply because the resources would be usable by a wider audience, and also because they would have a higher number of sales. On the flip side, I've done a number of commissions for projects that I wouldn't have pursued normally.
One final question, i am not a member, so how would i be able to test for things like dynamic lighting or drop shadows?

Tommy, Dynamic Lighting would require at least a subscription at the Supporter level. If you just want to try it out, you can pay for a monthly subscription and then cancel your subscription before the end of the month. If you cancel the subscription completely, it keeps you at the same level and you get the benefits through the end of your subscription period. This would allow you go experiment with all the supporter features for the entire month. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by drop shadows, however. Could you clarify?
Roll20 Mod team is pretty impressive, straight forward answers!
