Token "sees" beyond sight block - Advanced Fog of War + Dynamic Lighting

Hi all.  I've tried to work through this issue for several hours and an equal amount of Advil and I'm hoping I'm just super dumb and missing something obvious. Here's my issue.  I have the following map set up from a module, which is divided into sections because the building on the map has multiple levels.  In this image, you can see the dynamic lighting sight blocker set up in RED. The token to the left of the left red line, however, can "see" through both sight blockers. Here are my page and token settings. I have tinkered with AFoW View Distance, but when I apply any value, the amount of area revealed through the sight blocker increases by that value.  No idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance for anyone's input.
Reset your advanced fog of war.   Once one token 'sees' an area, they all 'remember' it.
Walrus said: Reset your advanced fog of war.   Once one token 'sees' an area, they all 'remember' it. I have.  Several times. :(  I think to be more precise, this seems to happen when the token is near the sight block, and I use CTRL-L IN GM mode to get the player’s perspective. When I click out of that mode, the area stays revealed beyond the sight block. If I place the token a few squares away from the sight block and “approach” it, the area stays hidden. It’s not a HUGE deal because I can simply start the tokens on a different part of this particular map, but in an area with a more confined space, it may give away unseen rooms.
Hmm.  Sounds like a bug report needed. Any idea if your players actually see what you see?  Control-L isn't 100% accurate. Maybe give yourself control of a character and log in as player?

I agree with Walrus, a Bug Report thread on this may be needed to fully diagnose. For better or worse, what you're seeing in Graphic 2 is related to Advanced Fog Of War.  The good news of that is: What they see past the wall will only be in Black & White / greyscale (it loses the color as you can see in your screenshots) and, also, importantly, any Tokens in the grey part will be hidden, they will NOT show to the player.  So the bad news is, yes, they can see a little bit past the wall, but they still would not see your Monsters, because that is how AFoW is designed. It is a known feature/limitation that Advanced Fog Of War can reveal single squares of your map Page, which are beyond walls that cut across a grid square.  But your screenshot appears to go well-beyond half-a-square past the wall. It's the bit with Control-L, that might be a bug or just how it works. Sounds like AFoW is saving the special view that the GM is given when Control-L is used.  However it also might be just showing like that to the GM. We'd have to test and see exactly what one of your players sees as revealed in similar circumstance.

I suggest creating a second roll20 account, adding this account as a player to your campaign, giving them control of that token, and see if they actually see what you as GM see.
Hi everyone, thanks for all the insight.  I followed your advice, created a second account and assigned it control of that token.  Looks like it's just an issue with CTRL-L on the GM side. When I use that function on the GM side, the player side does not reveal those extra areas.  Whew!  Glad that I won't have to worry about it. Thank you again.
