[LFP] Semi-Experienced 5e DM looking for a semi serious or serious players

1530735270

Edited 1530738530
Hello, my name is Josh. Currently, I'm looking to fill a spots for a game taking place around 11:30am-3:30pm or 4:00pm PDT on Thursdays. Experience in playing isn't a necessity, I only require people that are interested in building a story with other willing participants and with a passion for the game. I will be accepting likely a maximum of 6 players, though 5 is what I usually go for. This is an edit: The first session will take place hopefully on either July 19th or July 26th. About the World : I'm going to be basing this campaign (initially) on the very common fantasy theme of "Orcs versus Humans," and with that being said, the only restrictions for the game (initially) are that starting races must be either human or half-orc. Here is the synopsis for the story of the world: The Kingdom of Camor in the Land of Spires was a once great civilization that stretched far down the western coasts of Akkala. Reaching the elvish lands of Lyeie'he to the north, and keeping the orcs of Snakhagr in the south at bay, Camor was a relatively happy kingdom in it's prime. After centuries without war (save the orcish patrols to the south, which was generally always a cold war), Camor continued it's expanse, aiming east for the dwarvish kingdoms of Alunun to fortify the human's friendship with the dwarves; however, before this expansion could be set into motion, a disagreement with Jon Korben the Red would prove to be fatal for the citizens of not just Camor, but the world as well. Historians don't know many details of what is now known as the Great War of Evocation, but they do know basis of the horror story that occurred several hundred years ago. During the Great War, Jon Korben the Red and the armies of King William Camor of the Great Spires engaged in a several year long war, with King William's armies assaulting the Red Wizard's fortress to the north until he was backed into a corner. Near the moment of his defeat, Korben unleashed a palpable evil upon the world, scourging the Camorian lands with indescribable horrors, devils, and demons. King William fought until his last in what is now known as the Dread Wastes before being forced to retreat into the Northern Gulf of Camor, where he, with the help of the Purple Wizard, Agos, erected the Bulwark, a magical, multi-layered wall that would protect the survivors of the war. King William took what soldiers and commoners survived and built New Camor, which is now known as Camor. The lands that William used to rule - that Camor used to rule - in his absence, got over-run by the orcs of Snakhagr in the south. Now, the Kingdom of Camor, in the Land of Spires, is a fraction of its former glory, hiding on the cliffs of the Camorian Gulf while their lands are over-run by orcs to the south and unknown horrors north of the mountain passage. The light of the Faith is the only ideal that hasn't changed, as far as Religious Historians can tell; Tao the Father and Vera the Mother still watch over Camor, though whatever other God's used to be of the faith, they are long forgotten. Camor today is highly militaristic. Whatever royal family existed died with King William, and over the next couple of decades since his death, the military were put into power in the form of a Stratocracy; a form of Oligarchy. Currently, the kingdom is ruled by Field Marshal Simon Greystorm, the Wolf of Camor; and Field Marshal Drogo Helder, the Dragon of the Bulwark. The above text has all necessary info you need to have for building your characters backstory. Below, I will reiterate the base requirements for the Campaign and the character building process. This is an edit: At the age of 15, citizens of Camor are conscripted into the military. I'll discuss your characters rank with you based on your age and background. Mages are also conscripted, but they typically still attend a magical academy for several years before doing any field work. RACES: Initially, only human and half-orc are available. More races may become available to use as the story progresses. CLASSES: All classes are available. BACKGROUNDS: As far as I can tell, most backgrounds should be good to go. Please discuss backgrounds with me before writing it in, as backgrounds such as "Far Traveler" from the Sword Coasts Adventurer's Guide wouldn't apply well in the start of this game. SOURCE MATERIALS: I will be using all D&D 5e source books, and as such, the players will be allowed access to the Players Handbook, Volo's Guide, SCAG, Xanathar's, and Mordenkainen's. Note that source material from Volo's and Mordenkainen's is, again, not available initially, but will be later on. With that out of the way, here is the player application below. Please post your applications in the thread, so that I can review them all at once and not sort through DM's, this makes the process easier for me. NAME: who are you? AGE: how old are you? EXPERIENCE: how long have you been playing 5e and/or tabletop games? GENDER: what do you identify as? CHARACTER CONCEPT: given the information above, what sort of character would you like to play? Please list up to three characters only. If you've read this far, I hope to be playing with you soon!
Hello my name is Jason, age 18.   I have been playing dnd since november, and I have gone through all the source books.  Male The character concept is something id like to discuss with you cause I have a VERY interesting idea for this that would provide a twist for the campaign.
This looks interesting, I'm just not 100% sure if I'm available during this time window - which timezone are you working from? Thank you!

NAME: Im Elias AGE:  21 Years old EXPERIENCE:  Only played 5e and have done so for about 2 years, been watching shows for a bit longer as it took me a while to get into it. GENDER:  Dude CHARACTER CONCEPT:  I usually prefer to create the character with the other players during a session 0 so we can get a good party going but if i had to spitball now, id love to play the like caretaker of the party, like guy who was sent to make sure they dont fuck up, or maybe the even cook. Make em some good meals keeping the soldiers happy. Additional info regarding the time, the time works for me now as im not busy that day nor do i need to wake up early but this might not stay the case. Just a heads up that if i got picked, moving it to the fri/sat and keeping the same time would work or thursday but maybe an hour earlier?

NAME:  Barney AGE:  23 EXPERIENCE:  Been playing rpg games as part of a weekly group for a year at university, have also DMed one campaign GENDER: Male CHARACTER CONCEPT:  I'd also be up for a Session 0 if the rest of the party was, but for initial ideas I've got two for now, both Rogues: A 40-50 years oldish (charlatan) spy recently returned from wherever he was spying, having had his cover blown. He's a staunch patriot so despite being unable to act as a spy anymore he still wants to serve Camor. Depending on starting level I would probably take the Actor feat for this character to add to the spy roleplay. A young runaway who dodged conscription and turned to petty crime to survive (Unsure if this kind of character could fit or not, just let me know). Would probably have an important reason to have overcome his cowardice and be a member of the party, though I'm not sure what that is yet.

NAME: My name is David  AGE:  I am 19 years old EXPERIENCE: I have been playing DnD 5e for roughly a year now; Spent about 5 months playing a single campaign, the rest of the times were just fun one-shots with strangers. Trying to find a solid/long game.  GENDER: I am a male CHARACTER CONCEPT: I prefer session 0 character creation, because it's just more personable, in my opinion. But my 'premade' ideas are as follows:           1)  Human Shadow Sorcerer. This poor boy was kidnapped shortly after his birth by a crazed cult of Shadow Fell worshipers. He was to be used a sacrifice for their nefarious purposes. However, during the ceremony something went horribly wrong. A portal, much larger than anticipated sprang into existence- tentacles bursting from it. They lashed about, destroying anything they touched and stealing someone of the poor cult members back in through the portal. After slaughtering the cultists in one way or another, the tentacles retreated into the portal, miraculously, leaving the small boy unharmed. This brush with the Shadow Fell did something to the child. His pulse seemingly vanished and his skin turned a sort of grayish color. Still a baby, however, he would have died if not for a wandering band of thieves. Taking them in as their own, the thieves tried to teach him the ways of their craft, but the boy soon developed skills that were far beyond his rag-tag family's understanding. After spending fifteen years with them, he was told to leave- folks that practiced magic had no place among thieves, he was told. Now he roams the world, searching for a reason. Alignment: Chaotic Good   (Name to be determined)          2)  Human Storm Domain Cleric, whose family had forsaken him as a child because they were too busy living a life a luxury, pleasure, and sin. When they cast the boy out at the age of 7, a huge storm came rampaging down on them- it was the straw the broke the camel's back so to say. Having hated his parents and having his parents hate him, the child was glad that his family was killed and all of their worldly possession reduced to ash. Taking this as a sign, the child set off on a path that would lead him to help make the world a better place. Now, at the age of 22, the young man is ready, having trained and prayed for countless hours for this moment. It was finally time for him to help the world. Alignment: Pure Neutral    (Name to be determined)         3 ) Human Zealot Barbarian. This zealot would have been raised in a small tribal village as a happy young lad- something that wasn't well received. As a happy child, this barbarian was unable to summon any amount of rage. Even through hard training and excruciating torture, no rage came from the child. Fearing he may not be able to help the tribe, the village elder tried to raise the boy as a sage, teaching him the ways of the tribe. However, those teachings never stuck. Eventually the tribe had to cast the boy out. He was too weak to stay. So he did the only thing he could think of- he trained. He hunted rabbits, bears, and men. He sharpened his skills, but his frustrations grew with each day. "You're too weak," He recalled the elder saying. "You will never survive in this village." After a year of training and self-reflection, the boy believed that he deserved another chance. He went back to his village and experienced rage for the first time. His entire village lay in shambles. Destroyed beyond repair. Bodies lay strewn across the grounds. He couldn't think. He couldn't feel. All he say was red. Screaming into the sky, he swore revenge upon whoever laid waste to his people. Alignment: Chaotic Good    (Name to be determined)
NAME:  You can call me Lyydia! AGE:  24 EXPERIENCE:  Going on 2 years of 5E now! I have both playing and DMing experience. GENDER:  She/Her CHARACTER CONCEPT:  I want to be sure to fit in to any party, so I'll have a few options depending on what everyone else wants to play. (Names are TBD based on what kind of things fit the region we are in) Human Arcana Cleric  (Neutral Good) - Focused on studying all kinds of magic to help protect her family and her country, she fills a supportive role in the party and can be a stand-in for a wizard with her ability to perform arcane magic. She would be a bit of a book worm and a bit distrustful at first, but is a fiercely loyal protector to those who earn her trust. Human Banneret Fighter  (Lawful Neutral) - After seeing her home destroyed by orcs, she enlisted in the military early at 14 by lying about her age. Fighting is her life, and she will do whatever it takes to avenge her family and save her country. She will take a tanky role in combat. Human Monster Slayer Ranger (Chaotic Good) - After serving as a scout for her company for over 5 years, she was demoted and shipped of to another part of the kingdom after getting into a fight with her commanding officer after he did something that, in her opinion, put the company's lives in unnecessary danger. She is a master with a longbow and is an expert tracker.

NAME: Mi llamo es John AGE:  24 EXPERIENCE:  I've been at it for around five years now GENDER:  he/him/his CHARACTER CONCEPT: Human Cavalier Fighter (Lawful Neutral): The son of low ranking officer, he has had staunch patriotism and rigorous discipline since his youth that has guided him toward his future military conscription. Unfailingly executing every order he's given, death is a preferable alternative to defeat. Upon his stead, Indominus, he charges into battle with fellow cavalry to cut swathes and instill fear into the orc armies. Due to long campaigns, he's developed an unwavering hatred of the orc race such that not even half-orcs escape his ire. While amicable with his half-orcs brothers, he holds no love or desire to save them on the field. Human Great Old One Warlock (Chaotic good): An unassuming conscript, nothing much was excepted to come from him other than an ignoble death. However, during a siege, scrolls whispered to him as he pillaged the fortress. Opening them, he heard a voice clearly in his head calling to him, promising power to survive the coming conflict if only he'd give him a portion of his mind; The cost of power was sanity. He's become something of a problem within the ranks of the army due to his now insubordinate ways, though his superiors must overlook it because when they set him to task, nothing but ruination follows in his wake. Half-Orc Shadow Monk/Warlock (Neutral Good): Overcoming the bloodlust of his half-kin through extensive mental, physical, and spiritual, he finds himself thrust headlong into the violence he's long avoided. He was found to have a natural talent with combating mages, thus he was given the rank and title of Silencer. Trudging through the shadows of battle, he finds his was to enemy spellcasters and puts an end to their machinations. Believing he can end the violence hastily when all mages are destroyed, he works tirelessly to accomplish his goal in hopes of ending the violence and bringing harmony back to his homeland.
NAME:  The name is Kim AGE:  33 EXPERIENCE:  Roughly 8-10 years among various systems.  As for both roll 20 and 5th edition, new.     GENDER:  Male CHARACTER CONCEPT:  I have a few ideas.      1) Human Ranger.   Before the events that made him the man he is, there was once a carefree and peaceful man from Prace, a small village town on the border.  Day to day living was all that he ever wanted, warfare was not something he fancied.  In the Army, his ethics and attitude were halfhearted.  Only doing enough to get by; never trying hard or going beyond his duties.  That day would all change, when Prace came under an orcish raid.  In one fell swoop, he lost everything he ever cared for.  Left for dead under the the rubble of what was once his home, a few survivors managed to dig him out, but the rest of the family were not as fortunate.  Taking what little provisions and memories, the survivors retreated to Camor.  While recovering, he suffers from night terrors while sleeping.  'If only I was stronger, I could have made a difference' runs through his head along with memories.  With the injuries healed, he focuses his every being into the military.      2) Human Wizard:   Born to a long line of apothecaries and doctors, he had to be the one black sheep of it all. Possessing none of the skills as his family in the medicine or surgery; he chooses to focus on other endeavors.  Unlike the rest of his family, he has some potential in the arcane arts; which he is immediately sent away to the Magical Academy.  While there, he was known politely as eccentric and crazy to others; but his thirst for knowledge could not be quenched and studied in as many fields as could be allowed.  Due to several mishaps, he stayed at the Academy a little bit longer then most others.  Only now having just recently graduated from the magical academy, he is eager to make his mark in the world, setting himself apart from his family and their legacy.
NAME: Filipe AGE:  18 EXPERIENCE:  3 months, played 1 campain, still playing another GENDER: male CHARACTER CONCEPT:  half ork fighter : being trained on the field, he has become a master of many weapons to use to his advantage, unlike some others he is not a brute and takes strategy into account. He was one people who went out into the field and kept scouts and his men safe from others.  half ork monk : got noticed by one of the elder orks and was given special training to learn how to wield his fists, he did it for his brothers and sisters not really for himself. being able to fight is one of the things half orks do best and if he wanted power and protection for his family he would have to do something about it. half ork babarian : Trying to be the strongest is hard but it comes with pride. short temped and aggressive if his strength is tested, he will fight and he will show you how sharp his axes really are. These are very basic however i would need a bit of story and background to complement. also roll stats to know which one i would go into since depending on that would depend on character. i would only be able to do 11-30am pdt to 3-30 pm pdt, starting any later is too late for me im BST
