After Rurrick left, the wind began to kick up and the day turned hot. The party moved off 2 miles towards the other end of Trymmond city in the sparse, tropical forest. Pausing to stop, Urd noticed some stone figures not far to the northwest. Ailekk investigated and found close to 20 gargoyles. Owing to the loud wind, or some other set of circumstances, the party successfully surprised the gargoyles and destroyed them. They moved off to the southeast towards a lone cabin and inlet from the bay, with Ailekk messaging Rurrick their location. Rurrick scouted the city as a baygull, not finding anything but a large but poor sea community of thieves. The then made it back north to where the party had been to find the area abandoned, changed back into Rurrick and received a message via sending stone not long after. Meanwhile, the party stumbled across a bay-side shack and met Theli and Kilmah Trollbrewere. Met first, Theli offered them fried fish if they split wood behind the shack. A woman in robes with a fisherman’s belt around her waist, she looked solid and seemed pleasant. Ailekk, Ron and Cassius split wood for an hour while Rurrick who caught up then went to sit by Urd who had been lounging during that time. Kilmah, a thin and shorter dwarf carrying a quarterstaff, came out and confronted Urd and Rurrick, using magics on Urd to divine what was currently on his mind, his current emotional state, and what was heaviest on his mind. Urd threatened to stab Kilmah afterwards, but the situation was de-escalated. The party saw small brands of the symbol of Dravens on the cheeks of Kilmah and Theli. When asked about it, Kilmah just said “It was a reminder of past mistakes.” He identified Rurrick as a Nard, owing to his Thrinegrove accent, and Ron dropped the party’s seeming. The group went inside where Kilmah told them that Kiernard’s son lived, and the kingdom of Kiernard was still alive and thriving in the underrealms. He said another party of heroes had been sent to go find it a month ago. The party asked about Jamesyth, and Kilmah said he wasn’t there, the Nard’s who had fled to Trymmond over 50 years ago had found out about the bounty and repelled them. However, he admitted that they had been the ones sending out false rumors that should anyone want to collect the bounty, they should come to Trymmond [so they could kill them]. The party began to trust Kilmah and Theli a little more. Asking about Jamesyth’s network, Kilmah scanned around known hangouts for his spies and found one, then teleported the group into town undetect into a large building that makes ship rigging. In an “office”, really a place in the corner with barrels and crates stacked up around it with a desk and table, they met Ratur (Ray-toor) Roreanshale, who claimed to be Rurrick’s cousin. She said her uncle, also Rurrick’s Uncle (or grand-uncle?), was Alden Roarenshale who’d spent some time in Thrinegrove after the war and had come back having “learned things from something” in that kingdom. Ratur was excited to meet the party, saying she’d heard about their glorious victory and had won 200 gold by betting on them. Ratur woar studded leather, had a shortsword at her waist and a maul behind her desk. She appointed one of her workers to show them to the place where Jamesyth’s spy and two thugs were waiting. The party approached the area and got in place with Ailekk stealthing to the northwest on a rooftop [stealth roll 24], Urd to the southeast stealthing against the side of a building [stealth roll 25], Cassius coming to the alley to the northwest of the spy [stealth roll 15], Ron coming to the alley to the northeast of the spy behind Rurrick [stealth roll 16], and Rurrick just sort of barreling forward (because that always works out well). Ailekk made 2 perception checks, getting losing 1 and succeeding on the other. He sees a guy to the southeast attempting to hide in the alley. When Urd gets into position , I need him to make a perception roll.
