New DM Looking for 5-6 PC's! (3.5e)(US)

I am hosting my first D&D campaign in 3.5e for any players whether experienced, or new like myself. I will be committed to this so anyone who has time during the weekends consistently is preferred, but obviously things can happen. Basic rules are: Must have skype, a microphone or some way for us to hear your lovely voice, over 16(Exceptions can be made based on Maturity), when you want to apply for the game PM me with a short bio of your character with Race/Class and if able a copy of your character sheet. Now there are no rules to language, if you use foul language it is fully acceptable unless you are starting problems within the group, I do not wish to have animosity between any players and this rule is very subject to change depending on overall attitude towards it. No race/classes are banned and there is no official rules to back story, but you cannot simply come into the campaign with a character that owns the realm. It must be appropriate and adequate. Our first session will depend on when 5-6 players approach me and are accepted into the group and time zones and availability are figured out. No webcam needed. I know this is long but because this is my first time I wanted to make the overall rules and structure known. If you have any questions or would like to join Please PM me with information I have requested inside the main body paragraph. I hope to have this campaign up and running soon and getting right into it!
Am interested, but would like to know dates, level, materials allowed, as well as any other pertinent information.
Am likewise interested- along with a friend of mine. We are available friday evenings -eastern standard. We both are very experienced players and I am a DM of 10 years if you have any questions. But likewise, levels, materials, restrictions and etc would be nice. You can contact me via forum or through private message. Thanks.

I would like to have the sessions be on the weekend if at all possible. Preferably Saturday afternoon/Evening. So a sample would be March 1st 5pm ET - 10pm ET. Everyone would start at 1st level and start with max HP/GP and LA is limited to +2. Materials I have yet to decide. There are no restrictions as of yet. Any alignment, any race, any class. No templates. Any backstory is fine as long as it is within reason. I am not sure if I answered your question adequately but if you still have specific questions please PM me. Unfortunately since I am new, I am taking things as I go and attempting to do my best. Thanks!
Is the LA free, or will that count against the character's ECL?
It will count against the character's ECL.

Friend and I could push for Saturday evening. My schedule is fine, it's his work schedule that is the trouble maker. He would need two weeks before he can get Saturdays off.
I assume we're using point buy for ability scores? If so, how many points?

*UPDATE* *NO LA* I just made the connection that if the characters are starting at level 1 then LA can't happen. It seems that I was unable to cover a lot of the things that I should have in the first post so I will attempt to set everything straight with this post. Abilities: 7* 3d6 drop lowest. I am trusting people to be honest. I feel that point buy limits people in the fact that with actually rolling you at least have the chance to have a really make a good character. Background: TBD but I will edit this post when I decide. What I can tell you right now is that it will take place in Fawn's Creek to start and it will be a highly forested area with towns being nomadic natives(Jungi) and the "Civilized" newcomers that threaten their way of life and Habitat. Character Limitations: None, but as I am new to DMing I will have to just take the character sheets that you guys will PM me and revise them and if I see anything I perhaps don't understand/agree with, then I will approach that person and discuss that with them. Any Alignment, any race, any class from any book for right now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Characters: Start at Level 1, Max HD for their class. No templates. For materials, I won't assign a starting package you merely have 1000Gp starting gold to spend on your items. As of right now sessions are planned to be held on Saturday's from 5pm ET until 10pm ET weekly. There will be a "dinner break" that will be one hour, players are welcome to do whatever they like but no Role Playing will be done in that time. Dinner break as of right now would be at 7pm ET until 8pm ET. Sessions will start after there has been a group that is committed to that time. The group will be 5-6 People plus me. Session time and schedule is Subject to change depending on how schedules conflict.

Jessie S. said: Abilities: 6 3d6 drop lowest. I am trusting people to be honest. I feel that point buy limits people in the fact that with actually rolling you at least have the chance to have a really make a good character How exactly does this give players a chance to make a good character in the least? If you drop 1d6 out of 3d6, the max you can get is 12 and the minimum is 2, so if anything, you're almost condemning players to bad characters, and if you drop 1 out of 6 3d6, you're left with only 5 results for 6 ability scores. Point buy is, generally speaking, better than rolling for abilities because (A) it removes the chaos of rolling dice, and (B) players can actually choose their attribute sets, and (C) the DM can set the point buy amount to be in tune with the power level of the campaign.
I would be interested in playing, but would like to hash out the stat, i agree with haik, the average roll will by like 6 or 7 for stats. did you mean 6 4d6 drop the lowest?

So whenever possible can you guys submit your Character sheets, that is what I will use to see that people are serious about joining. Then I can get a rough estimation on how many people would like to play and what the party will look like.
Sorry, I'm going to have to withdraw; I have a Saturday game now.
Ok man Good luck
This game sounds interesting, but I have a Saturday game right now. The group is pretty tentative so that game may end up changing to Sunday or falling apart altogether. Are you married to skype? I've had great success with using google hangouts for voice chat.
Quick Question, So when you say no LA do you mean no using races that have LA or just ignoring that rule altogether.
Matt, I'm not married to skype, I have just used it quite a bit and it seems to work the best. Seth, I basically look at what your character's bonus' would be and what their LA would be, and I would try to compromise with you to nerf some stats to negate the LA, I'm not going to try to butcher characters, so don't worry I just kind of want people to be at the same starting level.
Sorry about earlier, but my other Saturday campaign fell through, so if you'll have me, I'd be very happy to join and play. Regarding character sheet and background, I'm very familiar with the system (15 years playing), so I'd much prefer to build my character last, so I can play something that would provide party balance; the process shouldn't take me more than 2-4 hours. That said, I'm a no-go for Google Hangout, because I simply will not use Google+, but I'm fine with Skype.

I'm also interested in joining but I am confused on 6 3d6 drop the lowest dice roll as I think you meant 6 4d6 drop the lowest Never mind I'm interested
Lol alright sounds good guys, Haik im glad that you were able to join!
I'm happy to be able to play as well; I hope we all get along well. If you PM me your Skype, I would be happy to assist you in any way necessary.
Well if everyone who is committed either send me a copy of a character sheet, or if they would rather wait like Haik, just send me a PM saying that you're committed so I know where we are at. Thanks.
BTW any of you who are going to make a character sheet, do it on either Myth Weavers or at least a site that you able to link me the actual sheet itself. Please DO NOT insert the images of your sheet into a PM. Thank you.
Without limitations and from the brief, though possible to change setting, I'd imagine playing a Druid would be terribly fun. I saw your word usage of "civilized" and if I can think of a back story for a Druid for those circumstances I'll send you a sheet. To be honest, I was about to start rolling and was already looking through my PHB reviewing spells, skills and feats. My excitement was getting the best of me before I thought of the logic of their motivation. Best of luck.
Lol, it is kind of a Anglo-Zulu war scenario, but not to the core. I am very excited about the backround of this campaign and was up from 10pm until 2am putting time into the background so that when i have the official list of players and everything all I have to do is start putting together the first encounters. I am looking forward to playing with all of you also.
I'm interested, and Saturdays are free. Experienced DM and player, so I can give you some tips on that end if needed. I'd prefer to do my stat rolling in game, otherwise no one would believe how high my rolls get. Can play any class and fill any roll, although i'd like to just spin the dice on each stat and see what i can make with it. Is 3.5 the only system you've worked with, or do you just prefer it to others? I personally prefer D&D Next for it's simplicity, but i'm just happy to roleplay regardless of the system.
Just preference.
NEED anymore players
I've had many people approach me on this thread, but only a few have actually PM'ed me a character sheet and committed to the Group, so as of right now we are looking for players, but i wouldn't say need.
Might help if you set up the campaign and then invite people who have committed to the group; not everybody uses the community forums, so you might be able to recruit other players serious about the campaign via that method.

I would be interested. Will PM you momentarily, and draw up character sheet tonight. For those reading the list, I'm going to pitch a rather simple minded, but friendly, warrior priest with a penchant for exotic animals.

The group as of right now is up to 4 people that have either joined the skype group or have given me a character sheet. That means there is a maximum or 2 spots left, I may decide to make the party up to 7 people, but as of right now it is a max of 6. Having said that, for the people that are already into the group and for the people that have joined the group after this post was posted, There will be a group skype call on Thursday undecided time until I have a time that would be good for everyone. Please PM me what your schedule is like that day, this will just be a simple Meet and greet for the players, to hear each other and for people(including myself) to tell a little bit about themselves and why they joined etc. Current Members are: Haik- Race:Athasian Human/Class: TBD Derrick:Race: Human/Class: Warblade Matt B: Race: Human/Class: Cleric John H: Race:TBD/ Class:TBD Bill K: Race:Human/Class: Fighter Connor S: Race: Dwarf/ Class: Fighter We have 6 people now. For right now we are full, but after the talk on thursday we may add 1 more. Thanks everyone for the requests. This posted along with the other one I made will be edited as time goes on in order to give everyone current information and for everyone to be informed on the status of the group.
