Dropping Out

Last night, played a game of Savage Worlds. It was a little tough. Four players. To are off-site, both running PC and Firefox. The GM and third player are on the same site (both using the third player's wi-fi). GM and third player are on Mac and Firefox. Long story short, we kept losing audio and visual seemingly at random. Eventually, GM started getting booted once every five minutes... logging in was a snap, so we struggled through it for a while, but eventually it became too much. Love roll20, but we were spending more times dealing with technical difficulties than actual gaming.

Next time you and your group are trying to get the vchat running again, I'd recommend trying the Flash version of the built-in vchat feature in Roll20. Just make sure that everyone in your group chooses that option so it's consistent for all of you clients. If that doesn't work, I'd try running the game in Google Hangouts . While you lose a bit of screen space doing this, the tech for vchat in Hangouts is much more reliable than TokBox.
The video and voice that are built in don't work well for some people, and with the large community of people from all over the world and internet and pc differences it can be frustrating. Most of my groups don't worry at all about video and just use skype for voice chat, a few times I have played using google hangouts where each individual can adjust bandwidth usage and if they recieve/broadcast video.
