LFG looking for 1 shot game today or tomorrow

I'm newish and was hoping to try out a new character I designed. A half sun elf scout fighter who's mute. She's an urchin subclass and would start off working at a bar at 16 gathering info for the keep like a spy. Think Oliver twist dodger. She communicates with gestures, writing, emoting, and for the few people she grew up with sign language they invented since I hear DnD has no ASL. Like I said I'm new but I think this character has great potential and she is someone I think could be dear to me
Hiya, Unfortunately I can't help you with finding a game, since I'm also looking for one. However I do like the character concept a lot. For most people it is kind of hard to play a mute character, but rather than speaking you describe your actions in full detail which gives it a nice touch and perspective. I wish you luck with finding a game.
Well maybe you can join the one shot too if I can find someone :) and yea she's animated and can sign language with only those she grew up with and she can write. She acts dumb so people are more willing to speak around her. I sent a message to someone who might be willing to one shot a game shortly. If they're ok with it want to join?
Thank you for feedback btw Ruben
I would love to join if he/she has a spot for me.  I do have to learn how to use roll20 since I've only played on the table with friends. Do you like a lot of roleplay? Because sometimes I can over exaggerate with the amount of RP that I do.
I've rp on paper for 10+ years so to me dnd is the next logical step lol
Haha and here I am sitting with barely 1,5 years of experience. Have you played DnD before or will this be the first time?
Eh... I tried once before but it was such a a toxic group that the players were almost verbally bashing me when I was trying to ask the DM a question even though I told them it was an out of game question. They kept yelling at me in character especially the one player. Made me hate dnd so I didn't even consider trying again for over 2 years but Critical Role sparked my interest again so I am hoping not a repeat from my first experience
Ah yeah that sucks a lot. I can't really understand why people would do that. It is not that weird to ask questions and I even encourage to do so. Even now when we are at the end of our campaign we are asking a lot out of game questions. Don't let those toxic players ruin the fun for you. I hope you can find a group where that won't happen.
I'm hoping too. I found a group that seems promising but I still wanted to try a one shot to make sure i understand completely before hand. And mella is a character I really want to try
Indeed it's wise to test it out and get a feel for it, and if they are a nice group they will give you plenty of opportunity to try new things out and let you ask questions about how somethings works and what not.  I like the character concept a lot. She can be used in a lot of situations, being a campaign or a one shot and she will bring plenty of interesting scenarios to the table.
