"Greetings. My name is Lady Sarah Specul, and I’m the head of relations between Sharn and House Lyrandar. I am contacting you because I require assistance in a most urgent matter concerning the retrieval of a very precious item I have recently purchased. I cannot disclose more information here in case this letter is intercepted, but I require your presence in House Specul as soon as you are able. Present this letter with my signet to the doorkeeper, and you will be granted entrance. Enclosed is a single Platinum piece, which you may keep regardless of your decision, but should you assist me, the rewards will be far greater than a single coin.” Thank you for checking out this listing. My Name is Jack, and I've been DMing for several years. Sadly my last campaign ended before it even began, but I’m ready to try again, this time in Eberron, my personal favorite official setting. For those of you unaware, Eberron is a land of tragedy and cold war, intrigue and mystique. A magitek fantasy set after a massive explosion annihilated an entire kingdom after a brutal long civil war, and the 4 year peace has been uneasily maintained in fear of another such “mourning”. Its 5E campaign book can be purchased from DMSguild, and while it’s not necessary for this game, it will be very helpful (or any of the Eberron campaign books from previous settings.) I have in mind a campaign of grand scale and scope; a long journey across all of Khyber and maybe even beyond, and from the starting point of a meeting room in Sharn, you and the other PCs can expect to go from New Cyre to the Demon Wastes, and even Illmarrow Manor. The campaign will be far more story-focused than combat-focused. Expect to go entire sessions without a fight at times. When you DO fight though, expect it to be deadly, tense, and -hopefully- unique. I design my encounters to be thrilling displays of power with dangerous foes with good reason to be against you, and I like to implement an injury system as well, for a bit of extra tension, but don’t worry, I’m not a killer. Most of the time you’ll be exploring, solving puzzles, talking to each other and NPCs, and, y’know, roleplaying. Also, this is a serious campaign. I love levity, I like goofy jokes at the table, and I like making jokes about characters, so don’t expect dark souls levels of “everything is horrible always” but I do expect you to take the game seriously, and to not submit a joke character. Your character can be funny, but they should feel like a real person. Technical stuff: Games will either be Monday or Saturday starting around 7:00 - 8:00 PM EST (the time can shift if necessary, but I can only do those days.) starting the 24 th or 29 th of September. We will be using Discord for voice communications. If you do not have a discord account, make one. It’s free and very easy to use. I am looking for 3-4 players, but I’ll allow 5 if I have 5 REALLY good applications. We will be starting with a "session 0" to get to know one another and possibly do some character tweaking. A decent microphone is MANDATORY. It’s fine if you’re a little compressed or staticky at times, but I need to be able to understand what you’re saying. Homebrew from outside PHB, DMG, XGtE, and Volo's is allowed, but must be run it by me first. We will begin at Level 3. I am open to new players, but you do need to know the rules. As long as you know what a bonus action is and what it's used for, you should be fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you are interested, post below and/or send me a PM (PM will probably work better). I will be conducting short interviews over discord with applicants as time allows. Please let me know the following. - Your first name (which I will forget.) - Your Pen & Paper experience - What you like in a DM - Tell me about your character. This is the bulk of your application, and I want you to have an idea of who you want to be playing. Tell me who they are, what they’ve been through, and what makes them stand out. Your character caught the eye of someone rich enough to live in Sharn in the Upper Central district; they are a prodigy, so what did they do to get picked? Be willing to do some tweaking during session 0, but I do want you to have an idea of who you are, and lastly, make sure your character fits into Eberron. If you have a preexisting character you like to play, make sure you give them a good footing in this world. If you’d like an example of what I consider a good character, ask and I’ll send you an application I received for a 4E campaign I ran that I adored. - Your favorite food. (Mine's Chicken bacon pasta with ranch sauce!) Thank you for reading. I hope we'll get to be great friends and have a long fruitful adventure through Eberron together. Your possible future DM - Chocl8215 aka Jack.
