Link to LFG for pirate campaign https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/12483/the-black-flag When applying please include character concept and class as well as your experience with D&D. Remember must have working microphone and Skype to apply and be available weekly.
Looks like I will be opting out of this campaign. As much fun as I think it would be to play a pirate campaign. Picking npc classes as first level severly gimps characters, and makes character creation way more complex than it needs to be for the new players to the game like Ronny S. There are easier ways to go about backstory than forcing a first level in NPC classes (if anyone is playing a caster they are boned hard by this)
Sadly I'd have to agree, wanting to play a Hadozee (Stormwrack) who has spent a large portion of his life already pirating as a 'Powder Monkey' wouldn't begin with a NPC class regardless of the way you look at it, the added effect of gimping characters for little relevance above what the DM wants for a 1st lvl. Furthermore I'd rather not wake up at 6am on a Sunday after doing a campaign on Saturday from 3-4pm to 11pm-2am so I guess I'll have to drop also. Sigh.
what time zone are you kurtis?
The timezone set will be 6am Sunday for me, you don't need to really know much else.
Ok I have moved my post to another forum to make it easier to find https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/710324/lfp-to-go-on-a-pirates-voyage-d-and-d-3-dot-5-saturday-night-gmt#post-710324

Was just curious about timezone to see about planning a game you could attend.
I wasn't being rude, I was saying I didn't need to list a timezone since it was that early, which normally means earlier is worse for me and later usually would be towards midnight for everyone else.
His game is at 3pm for me. that leaves a lot of room for pushing back the time.
1 person isn't every person.
Alex H. said: Was just curious about timezone to see about planning a game you could attend, since no one else seems to be willing to GM a reasonable campaign. No need to get rude about it. There's nothing unreasonable about wanting to start a campaign differently than you expect. If I weren't in so many campaigns already, I'd be more than willing to play an npc class to start.
I don't understand the need for a NPC class when Profession and Craft can serve those purposes.
There is when players in the thread expressed being new to the game. Creating npc character at first level makes character creation and leveling more complex than it needs to be for anyone let alone new players. Not to mention the gimp factor for leveling to better class skills when you factor player level to class level. always being 1 behind.
He's the DM. That's all you need to know or understand. And maybe a new player might have an easier time understanding a simpler npc class.
And thats why I opted out of his campaign and would be willing to run my own. If it were just playing NPC class it'd be one thing. But its starting at lvl 3 taking npc class as lvl 1 class and switching to your other class for 2 and 3. That is what makes it complex and not worthwhile in my opinion.
Then opt out and stop complaining here.

this thread wasnt his in the first place. Im not complaining. Im giving OP an alternative choice of a campagin.
Leaving this thread open for those continuing to coordinate games from it. Be advised, though, that several users received bans for breaking our Code of Conduct . We really do aim for a high standard of discussion here-- passive aggression, name-calling, and arguments about play style will not be tolerated. Thank you to those who simply flagged the posts without joining in the mud-slinging. Anyways, no need for any commentary about things being moderated-- simply post along and continue coordinating game play!
Alex H.: Depending on the rules and time, I might be able to join your campaign. This was a campaign idea the OP and I had discussed originally, so I'm still interested if it gets made.
