Seafaring D&D 5e Long Term Campaign At 10:00 PM CDT Tonight

Premise: Your characters have been on a massive ship (led by a dwarf named Devos) for about a month and are traveling to the grand city of Haven (a grand city said to be paved with gold). My DMing Style: In my games death is a real possibility, but I'm still fair to players. I also do my best to let the player's backstories and such shape the world. I'm also going to be drawing my own loose and simple maps for this game. Game: First session will be tonight at 10:00 PM CDT and will continue on a weekly basis. We're also going to use Discord. Characters: First level, standard array or point buy for stats, and any WOTC material for characters (if you want to use homebrew, please just ask). Explaining What I Just Said Above: For stats you can either use the numbers 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 for stats or point buy, ( http://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy.html ) where you have 27 points where you can spend on each stat. WOTC- is any Wizards of the Coast material. That means you can use information from any of the D&D books they published (player's handbook, volo's guide, and etc) and unearthed arcana ( http://dnd.wizards.com/articles-tags/unearthed-arcana ). If you want to use material not made from them (such as Mathew Mercer's Tal'Dorei Campaign Guide), you have to ask me first.
I'd like to jump into this and see if our play styles mesh, Sunday nights is a good time window for me. Quick question first: will this game be run as a text game, with spoken voice, or video and voice?
