Ease of Use

Trying to get my players to switch from discord over to roll20. Went to make characters and they got lost and frustrated. They are using their dnd beyond accounts to link directly to my campaign but don't want to purchase another set of books etc. I also don't want to purchase more books. That being said, what is the best route to get my players on roll20 i just bought the 5 a month subscription but am unsure how to go forward. It seems character creation is harder than they want and some of them are not new at all.

I'd recommend making your characters in dnd beyond, then manually transfer them over to a character sheet in roll20. You dont need to buy any books or a subscription to use roll20. when you create a campaign, you can pick a character sheet and you'll get access to the compendium which lets you drag and drop stuff onto the character sheet (not everything will be in the compendium, so you'll have to create some items and spells manually).
