Hand Raising or Turn Order

Howdy all, I'm new to Roll20, and have hosted a few games now. The main issue I have from IRL games is that some players don't know when to talk or when someone else is talking. Is there any system to let everyone know who's turn it is to speak?

It depends on what you are using for your voice output. If it is roll20, you could try using the turn tracker, you could use a talking token (just means that you have an area set up for each player and you place one specific token in one of the areas. When it is moved to one players area, that is their turn to talk. When they are done, the token is moved to another's) but that is inconvenient, and there are other ways. If you are using discord, there is push to talk feature. Understand this is more of a social matter than a roll20 matter and if you are the GM, you should sit down with your players to discuss this matter.
Hasn't been an issue before, but the group is up to eight players now, and this last game there were a few talking over each other. Oddly enough, with a group this big, I try my darndest to split the party, because then I can set four players aside at a time. Yes, this is totally a social matter, in combat everything runs ultra-smoothly. What is Discord? A push-to-talk feature sounds like it may work.

It is a 3rd party voice program. Many video gamers use it along with video streamers. A google search will find it.

Discord will also handle video, if you don't mind it being in a separate window from Roll20.

Interestingly, a feature it has of different "rooms" is a nice-to-have potential for Roll20 - constrain audio/chat by page. Right now, all chat and audio is in one "channel" - where if it were to become available, setting a campaign to "chat by channel" would allow one to split the party and keep the rest of the players in the dark. DM permissions might play havoc with this... specifically the chat-by-channel...
