I'm curious how credits are used/carried, etc. Can they be stolen/counterfeited, etc. edit: I assume this is mostly handwaved, because the use of credits on a tech2 world seems weird, etc.
No one has asked this before. Good question. Credits are issued through the Adam's Port (Starport) and are issued through kiosks in the Port's main terminal building. The value of a credit is set by how many are required to purchase a Jump Drive, which can only be purchased from the Aliens that run the Adam's Ports (called Adams for obvious reasons). So rather than a gold back credit it's a Jump Drive backed credit. Although it is possible to fool another into thinking a counterfeit credit is real it would not be accepted at the Adam's Port. All individuals can deposit any amount of credits at an Adam's Port and withdraw it at any other Adam's Port. Scientists are still puzzling out how the Adams are able to communicate this between Ports.
Important note for us players though, if you die the deposited credits are (as far as we know) irretrievable! Even if we could retrieve them the Adams wouldn't like that and honestly not even Kaito would mess those guys.
