Hello My name is John L and I'm starting a new group which I call Cult of the Root. I previously successfully created the Noobs that Roll group (recently name changed to For Whom the Dice Roll to reflect the non-noob nature of the group) which is going strong with multiple active campaigns. I'm still in that group playing in a great campaign, though I handed control to the very capable hands of Boli, and I'm starting another one in an attempt to refine my goal to learn about RPGs as a new practitioner. What I'm interested in is learning, considering and discussing deeply RPGs, not only D&D 5e but certainly including that. I have bought and freely downloaded hundreds of documents on RPGs, including rulesets, standalone, playsets, meditations on RPGs, tables and tables and tables, and advice. What I really want is to discuss all this from an open minded perspective, without bringing too much "this is how it works" to the table. This new group has the potential to be really something special and it might be for you if you are inquisitive, not too set in your ways, open to experimentation, have the time and energy to read and play, and are capable of discussion and dialogue. Your application to the group my not be successful, and we will discuss that in the Discord, but if you're pretty much on board with the above then you'll probably fit right in.
