Spectator-Friendly games?

I'm relatively new to roll20, I've been familiarizing myself with all this wonderful site can do. I play in one game run by a friend (which is how I discovered roll20!) and felt so impressed by it that I decided I could try DMing my own campaign which has been going quite well. I'm excited to show my players all the bells and whistles I've learned since our last session (holy targeted token batman!) However as I'm still quite green, I'd love to see what players and GMs with more experience in roll20 (and 4e in general) are capable of doing to help spur my own development. I'm also looking for justification to bump my Supporter subscription up to Mentor. HoneyBadger's sexy custom power card API script has almost sold me but I need a little bit more to get me to pull the trigger... Are there any ongoing games that are welcoming to people who only want to spectate? Is that a thing that people can do on roll20? I'd love to just be a fly on the wall with some seasoned gamers and get some new tricks for my bag.

While Roll20 doesn't technically have spectator feature, it's entirely possible that one of the many friendly GMs might invite you to a campaign so you can listen in. You'll also find a pretty good number of games that are streamed that you can watch. I know Twitch has a number, and folks who play their game through google hangouts have the option of being "on air" and streaming their game live. Users will often post links to their streamed games here in the forums. Welcome to Roll20, Christine!
Thanks Sarah! I'll look around the forums some more, I'm sure I'll find a thread for stream links, that's a good place to start!
I am getting ready to put out an entire suite of scripts designed specifically for D&D 4e... I just want to give my Monster Importer script some time to mature and shake out any bugs before I do so. Currently I have scripts that import monsters, the power cards you already mentioned, an initiative tool that highlights the token at the top of the turn order, gives players a way to end their turn (instead of having to wait for the DM), sets bloodied/dead statuses automatically, prevents overhealing (token can't go above max hp), and automagically handles temporary hit points. The temp hp stuff also comes with two api chat commands to set and check temp hp on tokens.
Whoa! That's a lot of awesome stuff HB! Thanks for letting me know!
No problem. I'm gonna hold off on my D&D 4e Character Importer until after the character sheet upgrade goes through. I don't want to waste a lot of time making something and then having to re-do it since better options became available. or something.
Christine, I have a youtube show featuring my Sunday Women's group where you can watch us play and me GM. I talk about what I am doing in roll20, show off maps I've created on the fly, and share macros and token actions, etc. Here's the an episode with me populating the map and the women roleplaying: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoIr73leBIw" rel="nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoIr73leBIw</a> Also, feel free to ask me any questions you have about GMing in Roll20. I am a new GM, but I will be happy to try and answer them.
