I think there should be more than 1 Maps and Background Layer. Sometimes, I want multiple things on that layer, but it can become difficult to select each one individually, especially, when I want to select multiple things.

There is a core post that is addressing this issue. Unfortunately, it appears to have been (presumably) accidentally hidden from the Suggestions and Ideas list. It can currently only be found through key-word search.
