OKAY so I got a character concept, and a homebrew Marilith race I helped make and want to playtest a bit. I guess my general notes are: The group must be okay with me using this homebrew Marilith race. Don't worry, I'm not a power gamer or a minmaxer, and I'm not planning on making a brokenly overpowered character. I like roleplaying and combat, but I prefer roleplaying. I'm experienced at writing / character development. I also have a fair bit of D&D 5e experience; I've also been playing in a long-running campaign and I love making homebrew content. Low lethality is preferred; I don't want to get invested in this character just to have her die in a dissatisfying way. No Voicechat. I can't stress this enough, if the group uses voice chat that's sadly a hard dealbreaker. Disability related stuff. Character Deets: Race Page: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Marilith_(5e_Race) Class: Bard (thinking College of Swords but that might be too obvious?) Name: The public knows her as "The Rose Serpent" or "Rose" for short; and that's what's on her wanted posters. Her given name is Isadora Delarita. Her family calls her Izzy. Backstory: (Open to changing various details, as long as the general concept can be kept the same) Isadora is a rather infamous vigilante from a desert country. She doesn't know her full origin; as far as she can tell she was either born in the material plane or summoned from the Abyss when she was very young. She's very interested in figuring this out, but it's not her top priority at the moment. She grew up in an isolated monastery, that was dedicated to raising a large and diverse bunch of orphaned children, and there she was treated well and certainly not as some inherently evil entity. Growing up, she showed a love of music and story, and became a quite beloved "big sister" to the younger children as she grew older. Eventually the monastery hit hard financial times and was at risk of closing down, so she left home and became a traveling storyteller in an effort to support the place, but faced unexpected hardships due to her heritage (life in a very accepting monastery left her unprepared for this!), and injustice in general. She disappeared from the public eye for a few years, and rebirthed herself as the rogueish vigilante known as "The Rose Serpent," with a silver tongue and sense of flair, who steals from the rich, fights injustice, and protects the downtrodden whenever she can. The monastery she's from now gets large "anonymous donations" from time to time, so she's started to set her ambitions a bit higher...
