Hello LFG, I'm looking to add two more players to my group, I have 3 players currently. This campaign will be using the Burning Wheel Gold ruleset, the first 74 pages of which are available for free under the name 'Burning Wheel: Hubs and Spokes'. That contains all the basic information needed to play, and the more advanced rules will be introduced slowly so the group doesn't get overwhelmed. Game Time: Sunday, 6:30pm-10:30pm, US Eastern timezone (GMT -5) Ruleset: Burning Wheel Gold Medium: Roll20 for the forums, virtual table, dice rolling, etc. Skype for voice communications. We've found skype to be superior quality, and it also adds a two-factor failure where if either/or goes down, we can continue playing (over several months playing, this only happened once, and we were ready!) Premise: The game will take place in the Chromatic Chronicles setting, which is the expanded setting to one of my previous campaigns, the Green Valley Chronicles. Don't worry, although the deeds of that campaigns characters had an impact, the old heroes are dead and gone - it's time for new heroes to step up to the plate and leave their mark. The setting is your standard fantasy, with some magic, some non-humans, religion, and Medieval level technology. Where it differentiates itself is the details. You can read more about the setting by following the link at the bottom of this post to my LFG-listing, then click on the sticky 'Setting Info' in the sub-forum. The 'situation', as Burning Wheel calls it, was decided by the players. There is a group of "evil sorcerers" stirring up trouble. One character, a human envoy from Green Valley, seeks to unite the different cultures together to present a unified battlefront against this new foe. Another, a dwarf teasurehunter, has the first clue to a lost treasure of unknown power and origins. He seeks this mighty bauble for personal reasons, but who is to say whether it would aid against the sorcerers or not? Lastly, there is an elf whose master betrayed his people and sided with the sorcerers. The elf now seeks to aid his master in becoming their leader, in the hopes that he can convince the man to sway them from their vile path. Burning Wheel: Burning Wheel is a dice pool system that uses d6's. Say you have 4 Sword, you want to swing your sword. You would roll 4 d6's, and any of them that come up 4 or higher is a pass. Get enough passes (more than your opponent) and you win. Simple stuff, a Roll20 macro will even take care of adding up the successes for you. The main idea of Burning Wheel is to get the players driving the story forward, it does this through the Artha and Belief system. Characters have beliefs, and acting on those beliefs gets them Artha, and spending Artha makes their rolls better. By playing your character, actively contributing to the story, and driving the game forward, you get in-game rewards. There are no classes in Burning Wheel, it uses a lifepath system. You choose your characters path through life from baby to manhood, and those choices determine what skills and traits he has access to. Similarly, there are no levels. Your skills level up by using them, so if you want to be a master swordsman, the only way to get there is by - you guessed it - swinging a sword. The Group: This group has stuck with me for several months now, through a couple campaigns (the original Green Valley Chronicles included). I think there are many advantages to having a consistent group. My players show up on time (or early) every game, we aren't starting 30-60 minutes later every other week. You get to know the rest of the groups RP style, and players start getting more and more into it as they lose that first-games-shyness. Commiting to an RPG game, saying you're giving up 4 hours every Sunday, is easier when you know the rest of the group is doing the same and your time isn't being wasted. Restrictions: I don't mind players that are new to Burning Wheel, or even RPGs. My requirements are that you're going to be an active participant, and treat the rest of the group with respect (mostly through showing up on time). I highly prefer players in US Eastern and US Central timezones. If you are interested you can PM me, I'll need your Skype information so I can set up a quick call (ussually takes ~30 minutes).
