Specific Cargo "Is it possible to seek out specific cargo?" Yes it is possible. Cost and amount will depend completely on the situation. Keep in mind Tech Level of the planet and the specific cargo, population of the planet and possibly Law Level will all affect the availability and price. Random Cargo Purchase DM Cargo found through chance (broker, rumor) might be less (or more) valuable on specific worlds. This is reflected by a purchase DM associated with the cargo type and is based on the trade classification of the world where the cargo is found. Buying and selling such cargo is called Speculative Trade and is one of the reasons I'm such a big fan of Classic Traveller. For example: Broadsword Solutions is on Song [D433573-2 Ni Po] and a broker offers to sell them two tons of Radioactives (two tons of tech level 9 Cantrip - Star.Systems/Crowler.System/Crowler/TRADE GOOD: Cantrip). Song is a Non-Industrial world so the DM used when rolling on the Actual Value table is -3 [NI-3]. The dice are rolled and they come up 7. Subtract 3 to get a final value of 4. Which on the Actual Value table is 70%. This means that Broadsword Solutions can buy the Radioactives for Cr 700,000 per ton rather than the standard rate of CR 1,000,000 per ton. I'll be happy to go over this in more detail at the start of our next session. The Four Year Sabbatical The rules state that a character may take a four year sabbatical for the purposes of learning a single non-weapon skill at level 2. Cost of this sabbatical is CR 70,000. However I do not have an issue with learning two or more skills as long as the total level of skills learned is 2. For example Computer-1 plus Navigation-1, or Computer-0 plus Electronics-0 plus Communications-0 plus Gravitics-0. A skill level of 0 is considered a half skill level. I place an upper limit of skill level 4 on any skill learned through sabbatical or from a private instructor. A skill of level 5 can only be learned while in a service or through Self-Improvement. The Sabbatical is the only means of learning Instruction-2 outside of a service.
