Hey all! I'm starting a new Lost Mines of Phandelver Adventure that will continue into the Tyranny of Dragons at its conclusion. Who I am Looking For I'm looking for adult players with experience ranging from Absolutely None to Game Veterans. I am looking for players who are looking to tell a fun and interesting story, get immersed in fun characters (including their flaws), and have a good time at the table.I want people who talk to the NPCs and get invested in the world so that *they* can get the most out of the game. You should be at the table to have fun! Disclaimer: there is nothing wrong with falling in these categories, but if you do, this DM **not** the DM you're looking for. Power gamers, rules lawyers, angsty loners, and wanton murderers should not apply for this game. I do not want this story to be quagmired by metagaming, nitpicking, lack of participation, and random acts of violence. I want this game to be friendly to beginners and be focused on telling a fun story. The point of D&D, to me, is not to "beat" the other players or make the most optimized, best-est character in the whole game. Commitment In my experience, this adventure takes around 12 sessions to finish although it could vary by 3-4 sessions depending on the character choices. Games will be occurring from 6PM to 9PM US Pacific Time on Wednesdays. **Our Session 0 date is TBD and will be free;** we will be mostly learning the Roll20 interfaces, my games' custom macros and scripts, getting setup on Discord, and discussing character relationships and details. It shouldn't take more than an hour. About Me I'm 28 years old currently living in California. I have been playing Table Top Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs) for 5 years now (starting with Pathfinder 1) and have been GMing games for 4 years with a group of friends and a few one-shots at my local comic book stores (exclusively D&D 5e). I started DMing and playing on Roll20 two years ago and am looking to bring the skills I have gained to others! I aim to make the game fun for players - I am your greatest fan, and I want to see your characters do great things! This is an adventurer meant for beginners to be a fairly light-hearted and easy introduction to D&D 5e, so I will not be running a D&DarkSouls game. Above all else, **I want you to have fun. If you are not having fun, I am not doing my job.** Regarding Cost This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of **$25 USD per gaming session** and is due after the session through PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. The fee is for the seat at the table, so barring an emergency or an absence worked out in advance, you will be expected to pay even if you aren’t there. If you miss more than two sessions unannounced, I will remove you from the game and fill your vacant seat with another player. Absences are OK, but I do not want to plan for your attendance and then have that plan torpedoed by an absence. Since this is one of my pay-to-play games, you can expect a professional DM experience with me, and if my job as a DM does not meet your expectations, please let me know, and I am happy to take constructive criticisms to make your experience with me better! I will focus on each of you individually to make sure you get the most out of your experience. This includes things such as: creating or helping you create NPCs that are narratively related to you, personalizing quests, items, and personal goals, and one-on-one assistance if you have any questions about Roll20, D&D 5e, etc.. Character Creation Although they are not required, the pre-generated characters that are included with the adventure are available for use - they are: - The Human Noble (Champion Fighter) - The Human Folk Hero (Champion Fighter) - The High Elf Acolyte (Evocation Wizard) - The Dwarf Soldier (Life Cleric) - The Halfling Criminal (Thief Rogue) I like the pre-generated characters since it really mitigates the work required of the players before the session and roots the characters into the world with a Personal Quest. If you would like to make your own character or tweak the pre-generated characters, you are more than welcome to do that. Just outline your character ideas in your application :) Communications Information We will be using Discord for voice chat during sessions as I have had some issues with Roll20's native voice / video services. A quiet environment is a *must*, and a good pair of headphones with a microphone is *desired*. A good internet connection is also helpful for avoiding breaks in dialogue due to bandwidth issues. Outside of game sessions, I will relay lore, information, and other messages through Forum posts. Sometimes I will ask for feedback on forum posts (they will be tagged with 'Please Respond'), and I would very much appreciate it if those got timely responses. Applications and LFG Listing here !
