Etiquette question

This may be just me but I often sign up for CoC games but there seems to be a lack of letting folks know when they are not playing/chosen.  When I run game on Roll20 I at least let those who apply to play know if they are in or out.  Unfortunately I seem to be one of the few that does this.
Generally speaking, GMs rarely ever let non-selected players know they were not chosen.  Oftentimes this is because there are too many applicants to notify individually.  Some GMs will post a reply or new topic saying players have been chosen but unless you're subscribed to the topic you're not likely to see it. I wouldn't take it personally. I only ever recall 1 GM notifying me individually I wasn't chosen.
To bad, as I usually do.  Guess I am too old school as I was brought up to let folks know one way or the other.  Not upset, just I try to set the time aside just in case and lets face it getting into a CoC game or campaign seems to be be pretty tough on Roll20.  Been trying for 12 months now as my times I can play are limited to certain days and times.  Right now it seems the closest I can get to a CoC game is listening to Encounter Roleplay or Into the Darkness Youtubes.  Better then nothing but dang frustrating.

Or, what happened to me just recently, your player Application could even get deleted with no notice or reason. So even if you follow a post you can even find yourself highly disappointed in not just one way. I do agree, i also think of myself as "too old school" and notify and like to be notified. Maybe not in whisper form but maybe just one post on the forum from the DM in the lines of "Still looking" < meaning that the applications from above did not pass. (back when i first stared using R20 i even gave individual reasons for why i did not pick X,Y,Z ... Yes CoC and other non DND 5e systems are... well... Not popular. And because the "market" is overflowed with 5e players and games, people can afford the luxury of not giving an f, because there is always some other game/player.
Depending on how you parse the numbers, CoC is either 2nd or 3rd behind DnD on Roll20 right now, so keep your eyes open.  Make sure to check the LFG forum as well as the game finder.  I see several being announced a week. As far as not notifying players, I don't think it's so much the GM not giving a F*** but the time involved.  I routinely see games with 50-70 applicants.  Who's got time to go through and notify all the unsuccessful applicants?  I see many posting a notice in their listing when full, but unless you're subscribed to that thread you'll likely never see it because as soon as they turn the LFG off players no longer have access to view those posts anymore.
Seems like this is something that should be addressed in the system. I'm sure they could add some lines of code that send out a notification to people if a game they applied to is closed and they didn't get in.
