My curse of strahd game setup help. please advise.

hi guys im setting up this thread as a master thread for my curse of strahd game. as i have questions on how to use certain apis and macros. im looking for ways to understand macro usage and to maximise the potential of roll 20 to make the game more immersive and automated. currently im trying to learn how to use the api script "area of effect" as id like to know how to automate spell usage with graphics and have them display their range/area of effect templates so i know which creatures spells would hit. id also want to know how to automate this for all my npcs in the curse of strahd setting. and i was wondering if theres a way for auto rolling any saves monsters have to make after someone uses a spell. for example: a character casts fireball. the fireball animation goes off. shows me the radius and the effect of the spell triggers. all of the monsters in the area automatically have to make dex saves. based on the players control over their fireball. is this possible? this is the first thing id like addressed.

Have you tried the Wiki? It's not the most complete or thorough place to find your answers, but it's a start. I would suggest Power Cards and its sub-API Power Cards Macro Helper. Currently, the moderator Kurt has three videos on YouTube, one which concerns audio and video attack and spell effects. You can find the one about A/V effects here: Attribute-based Audio and Video Tags Good luck!

New to D20 myself but saw you posted 5 hours ago. If I have useful info I'll share it. Perhaps we can learn from one another. My question to you or anyone reading is; how do I move character sheets, handouts etc. from one of my games to another? my "test" game is full of items I want to move to other games within D20, I am using the free version. Any response welcome

Any response welcome transmorgirfier. i dont think thats a free thing tho. and if your dming its highly recommended to have a plus or pro account. your online compendiums get shared and you get to do things like easy game exchange with set pieces and characters. the other way is to allow importing of characters and get every player to export and import characters from the last game into your new game. youd need to enable the import character settings where the game is created not in the editor.  as for handouts and that. thats a transmogrifier feature.  do you know anything about using the area of effect api?
no I do not on area  of effect api thanks for response,

Hi Jeff, You'll almost certainly get better results by posting any questions you have in their own thread. Buried in someone else's thread, they are unlikely to be seen by anyone who might have an answer.
