Virtues: This campaign uses a built in ratings system to keep track of a character’s virtue and purity.  All characters start with a rating of 0 (zero) in all of the virtue statistics.  The virtues are listed below.  Acts which fall under the left side of the chart add a positive rating to the virtue, acts which fall under the right side of a chart add a negative rating to the virtue.                                  Compassion - Indifference                                 Love - Hate                                 Honor - Dishonor                                 Charity - Greed                                 Selflessness - Selfishness                                 Peace - War                                 Loyalty - Disloyalty                                 Humility - Pride                                 Passion - Listlessness                                 Mercy - Merciless   World Notes:                 This campaign is set on the world of Jakara, a large planet that is located second from its sun.  It is slightly larger than the Earth as we know it, and as of now has not been fully mapped or explored.  (This is done on purpose, and I will never fully explore or map more onto this game world.  By adding maps to an existing game world, the game maker destroys, or invalidates any maps that his players may have made for their own game settings.  What exists of Jakara now, is what shall exist of Jakara in years to come.)                 Jakara is a world high in magic, and high in magical resources.   Many races and peoples live on the planet, and creatures of both light and darkness inhabit the world.  Jakara has two styles of magic on its surface -- Mystical (magic that comes from a person, and the world around them), and Spiritual (magic that comes from the Gods and Goddesses).  Jakara has three moons that orbit its surface, and these moons greatly affect the flow of magic as well as the flow of tides on the planet.  It is said that the moons are the Gods’ and Goddesses’ looking glasses into the world, and when the moons are full, Spiritual magic is at its peak.  When the moons are at their darkest phases, Mystical magic is at its peak.                 But, enuff about the world in general,   we’ll discuss it later, when it comes into effect more upon the players, and the Game in general.   Starting Notes:                 The players in this campaign start out in the hidden little valley of Dobbins Hollow.  Dobbins Hollow is a small town nestled in a tiny valley inside a large mountain range.  The only way in to or out of Dobbins Hollow without the use of climbing gear and mountain climbing skill is passage through a deep set of underground tunnels which lead for several miles and are called simply The Way Beneath.   The Way Beneath is a long series of tunnels which lead far throughout the Masters Mountain Range.  The Way is lit by a mysterious form of florescence moss that only glows inside the tunnels, and only inside of certain tunnels.  Those tunnels can be safely traveled, and merchants use them often for passage under the mountain range.  Strange noises can be heard and weird shadows can sometimes be seen to move in the darkened areas of the tunnels.  No merchant is crazy enough to get off the lighted way and travel into the darkened ways.                 Dobbins Hollow is a small little utopian town, and nothing exciting ever seems to happen there, or occur to its inhabitants.  Chances are, merchants would never travel to Dobbins Hollow, except for a set of gold mines that exist to the northwest of town.  For the player characters, there should exist two main types of people – Towners and Outlanders.  Towners are those people that are born and raised in Dobbins Hollow, and Outlanders are the unlucky people who weren’t born there.                 Dobbins Hollow is a magical place, and as such, its inhabitants lead a magical, peaceful life.  The weather is always warm in Dobbins Hollow, with temperatures varying from a mild 70 degrees (19 degrees Celsius), to a sweltering 110 degrees (43 C).  Towners are primarily concerned with staying cool in the hot summer sun, and as such, tend to be extremely carefree with their dress when no Outlander is around.  The Outlanders look down upon nudity and partial nudity, but most of the Towners take it for granted.  Children tend to run around completely naked in the hot sun, and most of the men and women seldom wear much themselves.  Whenever an Outlander should appear in Dobbins Hollow, the Towners will tend to dress in light, but concealing clothing to keep from offending their guests.                    There are several items of interest in Dobbins Hollow, and they are described briefly below.                                  The Lighthouse – Dobbins Hollow is a town nestled into a mountain range, and has no great body of water located anywhere nearby.  Therefore, the fact that a huge lighthouse is present in the middle of town in an oddity all in itself.  The lighthouse is 300’ wide, 300’ long, shaped in the form of a decagon, and stands 90’ tall.  The lighthouse is located on a small island formed from two streams that flow throughout the hollow, and glows with a bright yellow light.  The light from the lighthouse never goes out, never flickers, and is considered to be a holy place.  No one in Dobbins Hollow goes to the island that the lighthouse sits upon, and anyone that does is instantly Outcast from the town, and told to never return.  Returned Outcasts are killed on the spot.       The light in the lighthouse always glows a pale blue one day before any visiting merchant or Outlander returns to Dobbins Hollow, and legend says that should danger ever enter into the town through the Ways, the lighthouse will glow a fiery red one day before the trouble arrives.                   The Bubbling Brook --  Not far from the lighthouse is a small stream that bubbles up out of the ground.  This stream is always a nice cool temperature, and never seems to vary much in the heat it gives off.  Fish of all shapes and sizes swim in the bubbling brook, and a lot of the women and men in Dobbins Hollow spend much of their day fishing. Fish is one of the main staples of food eaten in Dobbins Hollow, and most Towners eat it for at least one meal a day.                   The Founding Statue – In the northeast section of town is the statue of the founding father of Dobbins Hollow – Earl Dobbins.  The statue shows a plain and simple looking young man, perhaps in his late twenties or early thirties, whose only distinguishing feature is a badly broken nose.  The nose on the statue is smashed flat, and pushed far to the left of the face, looking almost as if the stone carver who made the statue wanted to make it touch its ear.                   The Rosewood Church – In the southwest section of town is the local church.  The church is made from some type of strange, unidentified wood that the Towners have always simply called Rosewood.  The church shows no sign of obvious age, but something about it seems to make it feel as if it is perhaps older than time itself.  The church has never needed painting, and has never seemed to show a sign of scarring or aging, even with all the heavy traffic that sometimes comes it way.  The oldest man in town (Old man Granther, 116 yr. Old), says that his grandfather told him that his grandfather told him that the church has always been then.  The church is definitely a holy place, and anyone who has ever been there when it rains can testify to that.  Rain will not touch the Rosewood church, as it seems to stop inches from the roof, and then flow inches from the walls.  No Outlander has ever been allowed into the sacred confines of the church.                   The Lost River – The Lost River starts in the northwest section of Dobbins Hollow, and it flows in a generally southeasterly direction.  The river flows out of a large cave network that Towners have followed back into the mountain ranges for several miles, before they got too small for a person to navigate back any father.  The river is a nice cool temperature in the summer, and in the winter it can get icy inside the caves.  The Lost River flows towards the lighthouse, and then continues on southeasterly until it passes into a small cave and continues to travel on underground.  No one knows where the river starts at, where its true source is, or even when it ends at.  The Lost River starts underground, flows for just a short ways above ground, and then is lost again underground.                   The Granther Farm – Old man Granther is the oldest man in Dobbins Hollow, being 116 years old.  His house, and him, are both items of great interest for Outlanders.  The old man is bald headed, except for a small tuff of white hair that grows upon the very back of his head, and his children claim he reads the future.  He doesn’t like to foretell what may happen to Towners, but he will gleefully tell the future for Outlanders who come and visit him.  Often Old Man Granther’s predictions are very grim and painful, as he tends not to see the good points of a persons future, but instead sees the bad things that will affect them.  Old Man Granther’s farmhouse is hundreds of years old, and it is made in a style quite unlike any other home in Dobbins Hollow.  The house is made of stone (anyone with Stonemason or Geology skill can tell that it’s marble), and has large stone columns carved with dragons, eagles, oaks, elves, whales, and giant squids which hold up the deck of the front porch.                  There are several important people in Dobbins Hollow, and a complete description is included later for an easy reference guide.  Here is a brief description of important Towners, and their duties to the town.                   The Misfits – The Misfits are a group of small town bullies that seem to completely stand out from the usual Towners.  Most of the Misfits wear armor and carry weapons which seems to stand out oddly from what the other Towners wear.  The Misfits are described briefly below: Scarlet Patterson – The leader of the misfits.  She wears red armor, and carries a red sword that glows lightly on certain nights of the year. Brent Trueblade – The son of the town guards, Brent doesn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the Misfits.  He wears chain mail, and carries a long sword. Dolores Greystone – Dolores is one of the most beautiful women in town. She doesn’t wear armor, and usually doesn’t even wear clothes unless around Outlanders. Kirk Ervins – Kirk enjoys hearing children scream, he hurts them often.  He wears studded leather armor and carries an unusually black mace. Martin Ervins –Martin is the meanest of the Misfits.  He wears dark brown studded leather armor and carries a long spear. Eric Harenton – The town’s loud mouth.  Eric wears a suit of completely black leather, and even wears a black hat that he uses to pull over his eyes.                                 The Church – The church has two people of note in it – the priest and his daughter.  What makes Mark’s daughter so unusual is the fact that he never married, and he never had a child of his own.  One day, Mark went up into the hills to the southwest of the church, and when he came down he had a baby girl in his arms.  He named the girl Angelica and has refused to speak about her birth to anyone. Mark Hensley – The local priest, Mark wears leather armor and carries a mace by his side.  He’s strict and firm with the  God’s rules, but fair as well. Angelica Hensley – The most beautiful woman in Dobbins Hollow.  Angelica has creamy skin, and never tans.  She knows she’s different and is ashamed of it.                   The Moneychanger – The town has a representative from the Anduran government who always stays in Dobbins Hollow, the moneychanger.  The old moneychanger died a few years ago, and a new replacement was sent from the kingdom to collect taxes and make proper change for the Outlanders who come into Dobbins Hollow.                                 Simon Livingston – The replacement moneychanger.  A quiet man with no liking for anyone in Dobbins Hollow.  He doesn’t care at all about his job or duties.                   The Guards – Dobbins Hollow has two main guards in it to keep trouble down.  They are husband and wife, and have 4 children – one boy and three girls.                                 Trent Trueblade – The head guard.  He wears chain mail armor and carries a longsword by his side which he has mastered the use of. Brenda Trueblade – Brent’s wife, and the other guard for Dobbins Hollow.  Brenda wears studded leather armor, and carried a variety of weapons and armor to use. Brent Trueblade – Brent has become a Misfit, and his mother and father are deeply worried about him. Kira Trueblade – Ten year old daughter, and very responsible for her age.  She can be trusted baby-sitting, and doing other odd chores for the Towners. Silvana Trueblade –Nine year old daughter.  She tends to completely dislike boys, and doesn’t want to be around them at all. Simona Trueblade – Eight year old daughter.  She likes boys as much as Silvana dislikes them.                   The Mayor – The mayor’s main duties in Dobbins Hollow is to be the judge if any trouble comes up.  He has a wife, and 4 children who are briefly described below. Adam Harenton – The mayor.  Adam wears leather armor and carries a longsword.  He’s one of only two people who can proclaim judgment on criminals. Susan Harenton – His wife.  Susan was once an Outlander wench.  She worked for Adam for a few years, and later married him.  She is always naked. Ralph Harenton – Ralph is one of the local miners, and is one of the most popular men in town.  He also has the right to perform judgments. Eric Harenton – One of the Misfits, and a source of great shame for his father and family. Todd Harenton – One of the local town boys, Todd is only six years old.  He is usually naked unless Outlanders come into town. Laura Harenton – A sickly young girl, only 3 years old.  Laura always stays at home, and is pale and weak.  She sleeps a lot, and doesn’t wear clothing.                   The Head Miner – The head miner of Dobbins Hollow is an older man with a wife and two daughters. Benjamin Greystone – Walks with a limp, and has trouble using his right arm.  He knows all the mines by heart, and is considered to be a town hero. Brigitte Greystone – The town saint.  Brigitte never speaks bad about anyone, and is always looking for a way to help them. Dolores Greystone – One of the Misfits now.  Her family is still proud of her, and her mother is looking to marry her off soon to calm her down. Helena Greystone – Dolores’ shadow.  Helena follows her sister everywhere, and stands up proudly for her.  Doesn’t let anyone put Dolores down.                   The Inn – Simply known as Dobbins Inn, the local inn has no truly unusual features.  It’s patterned after the inns in Anduran, to help make Outlanders feel more at home.  The innkeeper is married, and has only one son. Joel Heartstone – Joel is a lazy man, and it shows.  Has very few muscles, and is always blabbing on about how great and smart he is. Mary Heartstone – Joel’s wife, and a hard working woman.  Mary isn’t the smartest woman in town, but she still keeps her husband in line when she has to. Robert Heartstone – Twelve year old boy.  Tries to sneak out of the inn to have fun whenever he can, and seldom tells his mother or father when he’s gone.                   The Pattersons – A family of local farmers.  There is the mother and father, and three children. Frank Patterson – A tough, rough looking farmer.  Frank wears all colors of clothes, and is slightly retarded.  He is also one of the nicest men in town. Martha Patterson – Frank’s wife, she spends most of her day looking after him and Joey. She loves children and is always telling stories, and cooking for them. Theodore Patterson – He wants to be the greatest mage in town someday, but always has his nose in a book and is too busy reading to truly practice magic. Scarlet Patterson  – The leader and founder of the Misfits.  Her father and mother still treat her the same as always, and hope that she’ll calm down soon. Joey Patterson – A child who suffers from severe physical and mental deformity. Joey is 15 years old, but acts as if he was 5 or 6.                   The Ervins  – Another family of local farmers. Esmond Ervins – A cruel man, who most people think has been cursed by the gods.  Esmond is always sick, and has aged before his time.  Xandra Ervins – A battered woman, Xandra is too afraid to say anything that might make her husband angry.  She always wears a full set of clothing. Ethan Ervins – A local miner.  He tends to be strict with his wife, but nice.  He wears unusually long shorts, which go to his knees. Nima Ervins – A pretty young girl.  Rumor says she was sold into marriage by her father.  Her husband is a much older man, and she’s never seen anymore. Martin Ervins – A Misfit, and one of the cruelest men in town. Kyle Ervins – A lot like his older brother: A Misfit, and one of the cruelest men in town. Xylia Ervins –  A fairly pretty girl, but no where near to the beauty Angelica, Dolores, or Helena possesses.  She is terrified of Martin and Kyle. Lucas Ervins – The local priest in training.  Lucas has some magic, and has enchanted his own clothes so that dirt and mud never gets on them. Martha Ervins – A young girl who has just started going into puberty.  She is very shy, and has little to say to other people.
(Reformatted a bit better as the Word document didn't copy/paste worth a hoot.  Hopefully this will be readable and understandable by the players easily enough.)
