Fighting Fantasy

My friends and I have never played pen and paper RPGs before, but we're keen to give it a try and as we all live at distance, I was thinking of using Roll20. I have some Advanced Fighting Fantasy rulebooks, Dungeoneer, Blacksand and Riddling Reaver... does anyone have any experience of using these books on Roll20? Any useful assets out there?  I really have no idea what I'm doing though, so any suggestions of something simpler to try with more resources available would be welcomed!

I am not familiar with the Fighting Fantasy books. With that said, if Fighting Fantasy normally uses a map, dice/cards, and miniatures or counters then it should work fine with Roll20.  You can import your maps and set them up in Roll20. We have many dice rolling options to try to accomodate most systems. You can make card decks for those games that require them. If you normally use miniatures or counters then you can find or make tokens (images) and use those in the game.  If you go into some further details as to the style of gameplay Fighting Fantasy has I could better direct you as to how to proceed. - Gauss
I  would say that since none of you have ever roleplayed before the biggest thing isn't how to use Roll20 but how to GM and play a roleplaying game. Like Gauss I have no idea how Fighting Fantasy works but if it's anything like D&D, Cthulu, WFRP, etc. you shouldn't have any significant problems with using Roll20. Just remember that VTT does not make it a video game and you'll be fine. Start with something small and easy and after you're used to the basic rules, Roll20, the context of roleplaying and GMing increase depth and complexity.
Fighting Fantasy is a quite simple RPG (and a good one too). Very classical. It should work perfectly with Roll20.  There is a new edition available here . Not much different than the old books, but streamlined in one book.
