Start of Log
Heyyy. Right this is going to be
a long one so I’ll try and get everything in here but your going to have to
read the other logs because I might miss something.
Important information to all
cohort members.
Aye well first something
important for all Cohort members. During this mission, we retrieved an item of
great power. This is a Brass lamp that has the ability to bring someone back
from the dead no matter how long ago they passed on. I personally gave the Item
to Leana Stillborne the Scarlett devil, for the council to hold onto when I
arrived back at the Cohort.
I asked the group if they were ok
with this and they agreed. They are many members who go out without Korak’s to
keep em safe. So if a party member dies and you can bring them back to the
council, you can ask them to use the last drop in the lamp. The lamp only
has one use left mind and we don’t think you can create more.
Some choices are hard to make but
the Kallanon seems to have a good idea when it comes to making the right one.
He gave me a second chance so hoping I can return the favor to another. I mean
I’m sure we could have gotten untold gold, riches or items of power for
something like this but some things are more important than material stuff ya
know... We do dangerous work and I don’t want to lose anyone else of the
Cohort, especially after Solaria. I'm proud of everyone for agreeing to this.
Alright so the mission.
Right so this mission started in
Ber Dairas. We planned to go back again the Temple of Evening. This temple has
had so many problems, last time Rob died and he really was looking kind of
worried again. The Red Witch was willing to give us access to the Ley Lines
back at the palace. She didn’t know if we we’re all going to die again so that
was good like. She must have some ability with being able to see the future
because last time she knew one of us was going to die.
The first night as nice and
peaceful with not much going on. I practiced trying to say Saorise name. Why is
everyone’s name so difficult! On the second night Korak took the watch alone,
he was really good though, spotted some goblins surrounding the camp. Although
he was good at seeing em, he wasn’t too good at hitting em. I leave him for
three weeks and he has gone all rusty on me. I’ll give him a prep talk after
like.
Aubrae had been complaining she
never has gotten paid for doing work at the Cohort. I think she is new and
really doesn’t know how things work but I said she could have the gold from the
crossbows if she sells em, even offered to pay the tax for her. I better pay
that gold after writing up this log, almost forgot don't want to get in trouble
like. She seemed happier knowing she was getting paid so increase the spirits
among the party. I might be getting better at this leading thing.
We made it to the tower after
three nights in total. As soon as we entered that cat was back. Nim became
glamoured by it. Trying to chase it left and right. It first led her into an
arrow trap for some reason although at the time we didn’t know why. Mamm had
her by the shoulder to help pull her back. She only took one arrow but after
that they stopped trying to follow the cat, well at first.
We moved towards where we knew
the creature with the death ray was but as we got closer we saw some vomit
smelling gas leaking from the door. Saosire said it was some kind of undead
that we couldn’t see and only be able to kill with magic. I placed down an
illusion of a small group of adventurers. My illusioned seemed real enough like
and Aubrae said the creature was mixing in with the Illusion, she can sense
these things or something. This is when the cat showed back up and roared at it
with the sound of a lion, scaring it off. That freakin cat.
Nim started again trying to talk
with the cat but this time the cat grab her and pulled her through the walls.
She came back white as a sheet and looking frozen. She was saying she saw a
chessboard and teapot on a table but something was there. Rob also got dragged
also into a room full of treasure. Korak then wanted to follow but the cat left
him stuck between the wall. This cat is weird like, bet Cordi would like it
tho.
We moved in more this time
recreating the sound of the cat to keep the poison undead thing away. I didn’t
want to be getting into a fight we didn’t need to. As we moved deeper into the
temple we got attacked by some of them undead mummy looking things. I told
everyone not to get hit by em, they try and infect you with a disease. Korak
and Mamm held the line why my Illusions soaked but some of the damage. Thanks
to Leana Stillborne I was able to show em the flames which worked really well
on em.
Korak and Mamm worked really well
together but Rob is got frustrated and ended up in a bad position. I need to
get him that book that going around the Cohort on Tactics. Really don’t want
him dying again. At the end of the room we saw a bag that Korak picked up. Nim
wanted the sweets but Korak kept hold of em. There were four beans but we going
to have a better look at them later on in the Cohort.
One of the walls in that room looked strange and as I pressed on it started to
rotate around. This led us into a room full of Rugs, Gold, and treasure with a
tomb in the middle. I'm pretty sure this place is a grave to someone. As people
entered, I didn’t believe this was real, it looked too good to be true. Like we
don’t just end up in a room full of gold and stuff. That doesn’t happen. As I
looked closer at the room the gold began to move and the rugs twitched on the
ground. The breathing, there was breathing in the tomb in the middle. I could
hear it. Nim could as well and we started getting everyone out, it wasn’t an
Illusion like I thought but it wasn’t what we were looking for.
After we left nim started talking to the cat and she looked like she could
understand it now. The cat was asking NIm why we were here because we weren’t
thieves as we didn’t steal any of the gold. Nim told the cat we were after the
brass lamp but and we needed it to help the Sultanas sister who was the real
Sultana. The cat wanted Nim to promise to help the real queen, not the fake
one. Queen Ahmose-Henutemipet. Nim agreed to help the cat but this is where the
confusion got mixed in. Like Aubrae is a smart cookie and she picked up on what
I was getting at, Korak was too busy playing with the freakin cat.
The cat gave us a Diamond it
fetched to help with Stinky and Sticky. Pretty sure I knew who they were and I
was going to have to put myself in front of stinky. The Cat got Korak stuck in
the wall again and then showed us where Stink and Sticky was. We followed the
cat, passed the monster crying over the corpse until we reached that smell
again.
Aye Larmedylth's blessed and
training has kept me safe up until this point and I was pretty sure the magic
she had taught me would protect me, even to a death ray. Like this is dangerous
but I couldnt ask anyone else to stand in front of it, knowing what it would
do. I sent my illusion out in-front of the door and we saw the beam fire
straight through em. Aye so no sugar there I was like. Standing in-front of a
creature that could kill me with one shot waiting for it to happen. Never been
so freakin scared in all my life and Korak and Mamm do this all the time! There
out their minds like!
Lucky the party killed that creature before it had a chance to do it again.
Never been so grateful but that when the Clay golem looking thing came running
at us. Korak pushed me out of the way and took the line with Mamm again. They
listen to my words and started dodging but the thing doesn’t let you recover if
it hits ya. It took some time but we defeated both of em, Rob was hitting like
a truck, think getting killed to a creature really make him want to fight
harder ya know. The tail of the smelly creature looked like it could be used to
make a mace. So both Korak and Rob make sure to take it off. Kind of scary both
of the priests seem to be expert butchers like.
After that we moved down through
the room. The cat led us to an even bigger looking cat like creature, with
wings and looked really intimidating. It was guarding the stairs to the top of
the tower but wasn’t going to allow us to pass without a trail. I have never
met a creature that even looked remotely like it. Some were calling it a Sphinx
but I’ve never heard of it. This creature didn’t want to attack us but test us.
With some kinda of game. We had to answer riddles it gave us. I’m so happy Nim
and Soarise was there like they seem to know the answer every time even before
I had time to think about it. Nim was talking to herself about the answer half
the time. I almost messed one of em up by not understanding but was just able
to work it out barely.
The creature almost gave us a
heart attack at the end by raising it weapon but it was only to state that we
had passed the test. We climbed up to the top of the tower where we found the
brass lamp. The cat made Nim promise something and its eyes glowed red. I was
giving looks to Korak and Aubrae hoping they would get the message. Nim took
the lamp and we moved through the tome and she took a turn toward the tomb
room.
Mamm stepped in at this point and
tried to take the lamp from her but she tried to throw it to the freakin cat.
Like Korak was able to catch the thing and I took it off him just as the
building started to shake. Whatever was sleeping was awake and we soon was
starting running. I cast my dragon wings and was getting the hell out of there
as soon as possible, grabbing the lamp from Korak. We were running from the
temple why piles of living gold and silver chased us across the sands. We got
out of range and traveled for three days straight across the sands until we
passed the river. Where we fell exhausted.
Once making camp Mamm snapped at
Nim about her actions. However there was a strange mark on the hand of Soarise
and Rob broke the tension. Once the group looked closer both Korak and Rob had
also received a black Ankh. A curse mark with powerful divination magic bound
into it. Korak was able to remove some of the magic and the Black Ankh with the
power of Moradin from his skin but some of the magic was still there.
We waited outside the city, both
Rob and Aubrae thought it was wise not to bring anyone marked inside the city
wall. Especially as it was divination magic. Rob and Korak removed what they
could but we had to spend the Diamond we got. Aubrae got to get a priestess
from the temple of Laerme to come and removed the last one from Mamm. She also
brought a cat with her as a gift to Nim. I was hoping to give the diamond to
Aubrae as payment but guess the crossbows will have to do. Doubt she would want
a bean.
The priestess was able to remove
it and we got really lucky as the Sultana was holding court inside the city as
we arrived. Back at the court, everyone was kicked out and we were escorted by
the Sultana to where her sister, the real Sultana was being kept. We watched as
she poured one drop of the lamp onto her head and she awoke. She was very weak
and didn’t look in the best condition but she was awake. Upon releasing what
her sister had done the real Sultana looked very worried.
We had woken up Queen
Ahmose-Henutemipet and she will now be hunting us forever. Like the words “end
of the earth was used”. But she isn’t revived so her power isnt at full but the
lands to the west of Ber Dairas are extremely dangerous, like don’t go there
unless you really have to and then think about going somewhere else.
However, she did say keeping a
cat, which she named Raqiq her word for Fluffy, nearby helps to keep Queen
Ahmose-Henutemipet at bay but she will really want the lamp. But. maybe we can
use it to lure her away from her safe spot to defeat her at some point. Really
going to have to find out what we are dealing with though. But the tower of
evening is now off-limits to everyone who doesn’t want to die the most painful
of deaths.
I did ask the Sultana if she
would be willing to give us a boon, being able to gain leyline access forever.
Given how now even entering the area is dangerous I don’t want to get attacked
by the Queen without being able to protect myself. She was weak and said she
would think about it and I would need to send a letter to her. Anyone on this
mission really should do the same as these lands are going to be very difficult
to stay alive in are what we did.
We left them to recover and visit
one more individual from the city. I met this kitty kat lady by the name of
Elishéva in the city last time I was here. She was alright and kind of help us
find the Sultana last time, but wanted to do this temple break-in thin. She
wanted us to get her the lamp for some reason as well but we really didn’t know
why so I took the party to The Cats Cradle, a bar place she runs.
Before leaving the Sultana told us she needed
the lamp for her daughter who was being looked after at the …. The temple of
Laerme. You know what want.. both of them had been affected by something very
similar. I’m going to tell the Sultana she needs to speak with Elishéva and
talk about the circumstances of both of these events and see if there is a
connection. Anyways, some members were unsure but I did my best Kallanon
impression about "The balance of all things" and they all seemed on
board. Elishéva daughter had been getting looked after by the temple of
Larla and we doubt it would have been cheap. The lamp was able to cure her of
whatever was effecting her but again she was really weak and wanted some time
to rest.
Later on we spoke with her about
the events and that there are members of the cohort who she is on good
relations with. We told her how cats seem to keep the magic at bay and offered
to send some of her kin to aid us and she would repay us in kind. I knew she
was nice, plus Korak like fluffy things so ya know keep him happy like.
Right I think I got everything in
here. O RIGHT, the curse. So we need to go to a place called the Tower of
Morning for it is the sun to the moon of the other temple or something. Not
really sure but apparently its has people living inside it and they should be
able to help us. Tho the Red Witch did say something about a Omen at the tower
of morning so not really sure if it ok. We know it is located in the area of
Ariya two providences’ east of Binsada but whereabouts we need to find out.
Alright I think I got everything like. Don’t go near the tower of
evening.
