Hi all. New player here who has never played a game of Fate before. I want to run a Fate Core oneshot at the specified time to get my feet wet (please check the equivalent time for your time zone!). Of course, as a oneshot run by a newbie, please expect this to be fast and loose with the rules. I am really more about the narrative. These are the rough parameters of what I'm looking for and planning to do: Modern-ish setting with a possible twist, can have magic (to minimize worldbuilding) 3 to 4 players We will set aside 15 minutes to worldbuild as a group, and another 15 minutes for character creation Time slot can be moved earlier a few hours if group wants There is no LFG post on Roll20 for this yet . This is the LFG post . Regardless of how this turns out, I'm planning on holding another oneshot at the same time slot on the next week, and then that's it for the year. :) Hoping I can get some players, veteran or rookie, to show me the ropes or to learn together!

Hello Rene, Be sure you post your game in the 2019 One-Shots, Mini-Campaigns and Longer Campaigns thread. /Matt
Oooh, that's pretty short term but interesting. I'd be happy to join this if you'll have me and we find some others.
Would love to have you on board Theoboldi. Hopefully we find others. :)
Never played Fate but have the fate core rule book and accelerated pdf. Only problem is the time slot lol. I am gmt -8!! If I'm reading that right that is 4a.m. here. Which not too big of a deal maybe but what's going on later that day might interfere. If you don't fill up maybe I can check last minute if I can do it and see if I can still join! Either way happy gaming!!

I recommend the "Mechanical Summary of Fate Core" to understand Fate Core in terms of procedures in the general order they occur in the game. I encourage GMs to stick the text in as a rules Handout. https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/17h3a2/a_mechanical_summary_of_fate_core/ In general, it's still just as much work to generate characters in Fate Core as other games. You need to choose the wording of Aspects carefully so they are not too broad. The game-balance is left more to the GM. But it's not so serious; any mistakes can be fixed during a Major Milestone. Also the Create an Advantage action tends to be under-used. Don't rely on your Skills, Aspects and Stunts alone, but players should think of ways to alter the environment, or the NPCs, or make use of environmental Aspects that are already there, for those sweet, sweet Free Invokes.
Time zones are a pain, Chuck. But thank you for your interest. We have 2 players at the moment, so I'm hoping for one more. If you find yourself awake and can do a 4-7 AM game of Fate though, I'll be here hopefully running one. :) Thank you for your vote of good luck, Pierre. Believe me, rules will not be followed in the name of drama. I'm going into Fate to a system that does not impose gamist mechanics to the degree of Pathfinder.
