Hello. I'm 31 years old, cismale, Swedish. I've played several ttrpgs fairly actively over the last ~15 years and DMed a lot, but never online or over a distance before now. I am looking for people with similar interests to mine in gaming to play with initially, and eventually start an online campaign of my own with once I've got a grip on how this works here on roll20 and online. I have no preference when it comes to rule system and I'm flexible to learn whichever if I don't already know it. At this stage I am primarily interested in making contacts, but certainly also to try to play with you. However, and very importantly, my focus as a roleplayer is entirely on collective story creation. I want to create an engaging story together with my co-players, and I want everyone to be on the same page with the collective story in mind over individual self-fulfillment. If the game is thoughtless it's not worth playing, and I will gladly spend the time needed with preparations to make sure that's not the case. In other words, I am not after a game to just jump in and slash some orcs, but rather a playstyle focused on character roleplay and story progression. I want the DM to lead on and trust the players to all contribute to this storymaking, and I want the players to portrait their characters as colourful characters of the story rather than avatars of a MMORPG. This does not mean that I expect or provide a supercomplex, multilayered novel of a campaign every session. I'll gladly meet up in a tavern and go find the farmers cat, as long as we're a group of characters doing that in our characters ways, and not just sleepwalking while waiting to roll initiative against the compulsory gang of highwaymen that were the point of it all along.    As I said, I don't really care which rule system is used, and this is mainly because I believe the storycrafting has precedence over the 'gaming' aspects in a ttrpg. My choices in the game as a player will be based on what I think creates the best scenes, with absolutely no regard to what allows me to roll the most dice. If it's very important for you as a seasoned veteran player that your excel-optimized character gets the proper attention for how much dps it can do I can understand that, but I won't respect it and we're not a match. I may come off as an elitist here, but while that has some merit I am gladly willing to play with anyone regardless of experience level as long as we share compatible views of how a ttrpg differs from a hack'n'slash computer game. Oh yes, I also expect some basic human decency from everyone involved, and I'm too old and tired to indulge dudebros. While I respect it I'm not into the paid options, either direction. To me, it is my responsibility as a player to contribute to and enhance the DMs story in a way that, for them, justifies the work they've put into it. The story is something the group creates together, not something that is spoonfed either way. I have a lot of time available and should be able to schedule play just about whenever. I am CET myself but frequently awake after most Americans. If you're still reading this, please send me a message here or on discord (Wiegenlied#9986) if you think there's potential.
