A friend of mine wants to get into D&D so we're going to spin up a game on Discord and Roll20 playing one of the pre-made campaigns from WotC. We'd like to find some people to play with us knowing that this will be a slower-moving, pretty casual, and very beginner friendly game. Details Schedule: Weekly or Every Other, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 7pm-11pm CDT (this will be better defined as we add a person or 2 and lock down the exact schedule) When does this start: Ideally I'd like to start this game on 4/14, 4/15, 4/21 or 4/22. Experience level: None to Intermediate. I think any more seasoned players will get a little impatient or bored with some of the initial pacing of the game until we all get more comfortable as a group and speed things up a bit. Commitment: Long. The campaigns on the list tend to run from levels 1-11 or 1-15 and it'll most likely take 15-30 sessions to clear some of these campaigns, so expect to be on board for 6-12 months if everything works out. If you're thinking this could be a challenge, you may want to look for a shorter campaign to hop into...because losing people in the middle of a campaign suuuucks for everyone. If the campaign goes well and everyone wants to keep playing with the same group afterwards, I may run another campaign following this. Looking for: We're looking for 2-4 players who are somewhere between entirely new to ones who have played some RPGs who want to embark on a very casual but dedicated round of adventuring. I'd prefer players be 18 or order and have the openness of schedule to commit to this game. Style of play: Casual. I love to have a group who is dedicated to the story, to being part of the story, and realize that they're here to write the story with me. I don't do well at voices, but I do like to play engaging NPCs and love telling a good story. Players can RP as much or as little as they want, but it won't be forced. I encourage everyone to play in a fashion that you have the most fun playing in. Material: We'll be sticking with the core players handbook for the most part for character creation, but I'm always flexible with the rules if there's something someone wants to try, so long as it doesn't prove to be a huge negative impact to the story or other players. I'm open to a few peeks into Xanathar's or something else if it'll add the flavor the player wants. How this will all go down: If we can get a solid group together, we'll settle on a day/time, a start date, and which campaign we're going to play. Our first night will be Session Zero, where we build our characters together. Depending on how fresh the group is, we'll spend a lot of time going through character creation, the stats used in playing the game, how the rounds go, our character's backstories and how the group has or will come together and embark on their journey. If time permits, we'll probably do a play round of combat just to go through the process and get familiar (and roll some dice!). About me: I'm a clown. Not like the red nosed circus kind or the hiding in the sewers kind, but I'm witty in a way that I hope others find amusing too. My other group didn't pick out tokens for their characters before Session 1, so I assigned South Park tokens for our D&D characters. We're still using them a half a year later and I still giggle each time I see them. I'm an intermediate level DM, and I love telling a good story. I'm quick to improvise, and always keep my focus on making sure everyone in the group is having a good time, me included. What I lack in experience (I will look stuff up from time to time) I mostly make up for in effort. I will spend the time to write a story that intertwines into the backstories of my adventurers so that each character has skin in the game. I started playing D&D in 2nd Edition and played for about 7-8 years during grade school and high school, with a long hiatus until about 2 years ago when I was reintroduced to 5e. Been back and loving it ever since, and can't get enough D&D in my life. If you managed to read through all that and still want to join up on this crazy train to... somewhere... let me know!
