Some newb questions about starting a store bought campaign

Hi all! Old school former 2nd edition D&D player here. Did Mines of Phandelver on an actual tabletop. Just getting accustomed to VTT (I got the acronym down tho heh? ;-) Questions: 1. If the GM buys a game from marketplace other players do not also need to buy the game to play correct? 2. Any recs for a first game to purchase as we wade into the VTT world? Just want something fun and pretty basic starting at level 1. Thank you!

Hi Steve. Old schooler here also as I started with Redbox. 1. The Game Creator is the only one that needs to purchase the game and if they wish, the subscription also. All the players get the benefit of the creator's sub and purchase. 2. I would recommend digging into the marketplace for some free stuff. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/module/40/the-masters-vault is a free module and https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/gameaddon/157/the-sunless-citadel-tales-from-the-yawning-portal is a free addon (can be added to existing games) but for only a limited time. There are some free art asset packages also. Use the free stuff to get the hang of Roll20 then roll on from there.
Thanks much!
