The adventurers have defeated Rezmir, but now what? A fire rages in the chamber as a result of the battle, and the many dead cultists will surely draw attention once the night has passed. Thinking quickly, Twinkle Tom grabs a nearby curtain and smothers the flames, eliminating the most urgent problem. A quick search of the room reveals a few valuable items, some papers confirming the plan to take treasure to the Well of Dragons, and two magical items: a greatsword and a cult insignia. Noram collects the former, and Tom the latter. Mella sends her owl familiar up the stairs leading into the giant tower, and the party follows, leaving Rezmir's rooms locked and silent. Moving quickly, they ascend into the giant tower. Here they discover a giant blue flame filling the center of the tower, which Brin recognizes as powerful cloud giant magic - a magical engine that powers the flying castle. A spiral staircase leads further upward, and again the owl familiar leads the way. On the next floor are several ogres standing guard, each resplendent in a shiny hat. Mella uses her magic to take the form of a vampire, casts flight using her bandore, and floats upward alongside the blue flame. The ogres gape at this display and whisper to one another, fearful of the vampire, but do not flee. Then Mella threatens to take their hats, and as one ogre they flee up the stairs in fright, each holding firmly to his hat. The sound of their pounding feet can be heard throughout the tower. Mella pursues them, and the rest of the party follows quickly. On the next level they find a throne room. Jamna investigates a couple of treasure chests in the corner, finding them to be full of gold. But before she takes anything, Mella comes flying back into the room, with a cloud giant close behind! This is Blagothkus, master of the castle, and he demands that the intruders explain themselves. Tom steps forward and tries to explain their agreement with Talis the White, but the giant does not seem impressed. He demands to know why they have come into his tower, something expressly forbidden to cultists under his agreement with Rezmir. He even sends an ogre to fetch her (and another to keep Jamna away from the treasure). Tom tries to show the cult insignia to prove that he has Rezmir's confidence, but the greatsword (which is sentient, and evil) shouts from the cleric's pack that Rezmir is dead! Seeing that subterfuge is a lost cause, Luna tells Blagothkus that the party is actually here to infiltrate the cult and sabotage their efforts. The giant demands to know all that they have done, so the party relates the full tale of their battles against the cult. Once he hears that the cult is raising Tiamat from the Nine Hells, he grows concerned. His plan was to help the cult increase dragon power to the point that the giants were forced to unite against the threat...but Tiamat herself would be a disaster! He deems that the time has come to abandon the cult and take his castle north to rally his giant kindred. Being taken north to the frozen lands of the cloud giants does not sound particularly appealing to Tom. He asks Blagothkus if the castle can be landed to allow the party to disembark. The giant agrees, but also plans to send his ogres to herd all the remaining cultists off at the same time. This they do, and the adventurers find themselves at the castle entrance with several dozen angry cult members howling for their blood! The main entrance is not the only way off the castle, fortunately. Tom leads the way over to the stables, and uses his skill with animals to quiet and saddle two of the wyverns there. Thus mounted, the party flies off, passing over the crowd of cultists and soon leaving them far behind. They set course for Waterdeep, there to report on their success in thwarting the cult's plans.
