Casting spells from NPC character sheets

Hi, I bought the (excellent) War of The Burning Sky modules on Marketplace, but am having a small issue with casting spells from NPC character sheets. I thought attack spells were supposed to be added to the Actions section, but they aren't. And when I click on spell names to cat the, the chat log either shows no NPC name or nothing at all (in the case when I had to choose the spell name). Regular attack actions work fine, though they don't use the same template for roll output as the PC character sheet. Is there some setting I forgot to set? Thanks!

So this is the WotBS: Tears of the Burning Sky addon , an adventure for 5e. but am having a small issue with casting spells from NPC character sheets. I thought attack spells were supposed to be added to the Actions section, but they aren't. This is the case for PCs, but I think duplicating spells as attacks for NPCs have been intentionally left out. It would be possible to have the sheet do this, but there are a number of things that makes it different from PCs. NPC stats & attacks are structured in a different way than PCs, so the sheet would need to have a different process to copy the Spells of NPCs to their attack section compared to PC sections. And as any game would contain much more NPCs than PCs, leaving this out might have been a conscious choice to avoid stat-bloat in a campaigns. And when I click on spell names to cat the, the chat log either shows no NPC name or nothing at all (in the case when I had to choose the spell name). Not having the name of a NPC in the Spell when cast is absolutely an annoyance, and would personally think Roll20 should implement this option. I figured a way to show NPC names in spell rolls, while I looked at the details. If you go to the PC side of a character sheet (by unchecking the "NPC" checkbox in NPC's Settings), on the right-side column on the PC Settings tab there is an option called " Show names in templates ". If you turn this thing on, it will show the name of the PC sheet, which should be the same as the NPC side. Unfortunately, this seems to be something you need to do individually for each spellcasting NPC that comes from addons or modules, as changing the  Default Sheet Settings for "showing name in template" didn't seem to turn it on automatically for NPC spellcasters from the Burning addon, even if I did the Default Sheet Settings change before adding the addon to the campaign. However, this still seems to work for any NPC spellcasters you drag-n-drop from the compendium. (If you're interested in the details, PC names are stored in the "character_name"-attribute and NPC names in the "npc_name"-attribute, but on most NPCs the name is duplicated to the PC side. Both PC & NPC spells checks on the PC's Settings on whether a name should be shown for spells or not, and the NPC's "show name" affects all other rolls except spells.) Regular attack actions work fine, though they don't use the same template for roll output as the PC character sheet. NPC Actions/attacks are saved & tracked differently than PC attacks, but it's probably only half the reason NPCs have a separate attack roll template, the other being that it makes things easier to distinguish in the chat.
Thank you for the detailed answer, Andreas! But I don't even have the "NPC" checkbox there, and the character sheet looks different than in your screenshot. Is some other global setting affecting this? Simon

The NPC Setting is opened from the "cog" icon. If you make your sheet wider it should pop up to the top-right corner like it's on my screenshot.
I don't have this icon even if I go to the full screen popup.

On the npc sheet, the cog in the upper right only shows up on mouseover, so make sure you hover your mouse of the main body of the sheet. Also, your sheet looks a little odd.  Mine displays 2 columns by default.  Are you using a supported browser, or any browser addons that might be changing how things display?  (Mainly bringing that up in case the cog doesn't display for you at all.)
Thank you, I do get the cog icon on hover. Had no idea it's there. I found the "Add character name to templates" setting. The browser is just Chrome/Windows
