I'd like to request a new layer that would sit on top of all layers, fixed to the player's viewport. This would be for informational overlays - as a sort of video game style HUD. An example how this might be used: I, as the GM, have put the players into a time sensitive information. We're in a combat situation and I've put a real-time limit of 2 hours on the scene. If the player characters cannot defuse all the bombs the BBEGs have placed in this period of time, they will go off and in-game consequences will occur! Another different-but-same scenario: I, as the GM, am running a session for a virtual convention. The session is 4 hours long. We can't run over because people have other sessions to attend. Having a timer on screen would be a good constant reminder for players not to dally. I am envisioning this as a limited-size (maybe 150px tall) space near the top of the screen that would be visible to players and would remain fixed to the viewport, not the map. Being able to customize this as a regular layer would be great. One could put some simple information and player reminders in front of the players and use that would enrich game play. Having a timer widget would be super great too, but I'd be content to update the "time left" every 5 minutes or so for what I have in mind. :)
