Really stupid question..sorry but could find an answer searching. i have the PHB and Xanthers guide on roll 20. is there a way to just read it as a book? often people reference a page. im trying to read the actual rules on two weapon fighting and crossbow expert feat.

No, unfortunately. The book is optimized to facilitate its use on Roll20. Technically, you can go to the Compendium page, click on the book and start at the beginning of the Table of Contents. There is a "Next Page" link at the bottom of each page, but it doesn't always follow the book, last time I checked.

The solution I've found to this is to ask the person who's referencing the page they're reading to give you the nearest heading, and then search on the heading. That usually makes something useful show up.
