setting off in the Belle Venture), and August 24th, 4:00 pm on day 26 on the
isle. Things start when the party sets a date to
meet up with Xltixchuk the lizardman merchant trader, for trading goods. They
set the date to September 2 nd at 10:00 am. They then leave the
Exotic Goods Exchange and head to the main Market avenue in the Forbidden City. They see a fellow in armor and a ranger looking
type at a stall and approach them. They find out they are Lord Tendlore the
paladin knight of the god Heironeous and Fenwe the Ranger, (not related to the
former party member of the same name!) After
a few exchange of words, the two tags along with the party as they head into
the temple district have scope out around a temple with two cobra snake statues
at it’s front. When Fenwe, opens the front gate a Yuan-Ti
pureblood says, “Halt! This is a sacred temple to our Lord Set! You may enter
to worship and say your prayers.” Lord Tendlore says, “I will never worship in
such an evil place.” Fenwe closes the gate, saying, “We are really
just sightseeing here.” And the group heads around the back side to see a
similar gate and a Yuan-Ti Pureblood guard. From there they move to where they see the
Obelisk, which is another reason they are here in the city to see how to
retrieve it for the merchant Rollo Bargman, before the pirates do. Note: I think when the party met back up with
Quintolos, whom can’t leave the water, no thanks to the aboleth transforming
his ability to breath air so that he breathes water now, had mentioned that the
Obelisk was once something the Grippli frogmen worshipped at before they were
chased out of the city. Area
description: You
catch glimpses of the Obelisk area's crumbled stone walls and approach
cautiously. Standing
tall and clean in the center of the area is a large stone spire, 50
feet tall and 15-20 feet wide at its base. It reaches to within 20 feet of the
treetop canopy. The
area around the spire is roughly about 150 feet across. The ground is littered
with crumbled ruins
and what little can grow on the rocky city floor. No trees grow within 150 feet
of the base of the pillar. The
stone ruins that you first glimpsed through the walls form a rough square
around the pillar, about 150 feet from it. Some
rubble lies within the area, but not much. Note: Since there was no map provided in the
module (I11: Needle), I just used a jungle map. For the purpose of searching
the 150 feet area, it was divided into six sections of which each character
could roll a Search Roll once in each section, in an attempt to find anything
that may be in the area around the Obelisk. Lord Tendlore concentrates to detect evil upon
the obelisk but does not sense any. Maevis tries to find a secret door upon the
obelisk and does not find one. Maevis does come across a small, broken
ceramic jug decorated with the hand drawn image of a spider. In the process of searching around the
obelisk, Lord Tendlore, almost tripped up on some rubble but rolls a successful
dexterity check of 5 and stays on his feet. However, he spots a hole in the
ground, just before him that he could have fallen into! The party continues to search some more,
finding 4 openings into the ground that would form a rectangle around the Obelisk.
Also the skeletal remains of a human skeleton in armor was found but thing of
value is upon it and Lord Tendlore didn’t detect evil upon the skeleton.
Lord Tendlore finds some sort of wand, made of
some sort of smooth shiny substance. Then it’s back to the hole Lord Tendlore
found before, which is about 15 feet down, in the sunlight, to the floor below.
