(Play-by-Post required!) Hello! We're looking for a (Flexibly) Song of Swords DM for a group of two players. Myself and one other. Both of us are veterans to Tabletop RPGs by now, and one of us is extremely familiar with the system should someone wish to give it a go regardless of whether they've played it or not. We love to focus on a narrative and character development in that light rather than combat encounters, though these are always part of the system, so don't be afraid to throw them in or anything. We're simply roleplayers at heart. :) While I don't disagree with a DM charging for their campaigns, I can't agree with paying a high price (like $30 a session or some such). Creating maps isn't mandatory, honestly most of us are fine with just drawing them in the roll20 map page and just giving a general idea of what's what in most cases when prompted. Anything past that isn't required, but if you like to do so you can! :) We're flexible in the game of choice, and our days are just about any day but Sunday/Monday in EST. Any other day is absolutely fine, so long as it's past 9AM EST and before 3AM EST, in most cases. There may be some exceptions to this, which will come randomly week by week, so we'd be letting you know should that happen. We're fine with a variety of themes, such as Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk, High/Low Fantasy, straight History/Medival, Modern, any variety of the few. (Though personally I'm not a fan of time traveling shticks.) So if anyone's interested please let me know.
Ever played Burning Wheel / would you try it? can you do wednesdays 7pm - 10pm (GMT+8)? And does a game revolving around being part of a band of witch hunters interest you? Specifically getting along in a group made up of zealots, criminals and knights forced to get along and aid their inquisitor for the good of the realm.
I haven't tried Burning Wheel, surprisingly. I've heard of it though! What exactly is the system's core focus? Is it a focus on combat? I've heard a variety of things about it. Wednesdays then is just about as early as I can plausibly go! So yes, I'd say that's likely very do-able if I tried decently hard. Witch hunters? I'm not familiar with many settings with witch-hunters in them beyond Warhammer Fantasy, is that the setting it takes place in? Information please! :) Additionally, are more players beyond my little group doing this already? You can feel free to answer all of this in PMs too. (Also, should anyone else be interested for any other days/same day at a different time, please feel free to ALSO comment. We have.. a ton of free time for the forseeable future.)
So the core focus of the system is narrative gameplay.   Its the sort of system where the consequences of your actions are stated up front before you roll.  Where every time you roll a skill you go through your other skills and traits for things that might change the situation and gain bonus dice or increase the difficulty.  Its the sort of system where INCREASING the difficulty of some tests is something you may actually want to do because failure is baked into how your character advances. As for the Plot,  its a homebrew setting with plenty of inspiration taken from Warhammer fantasy as well as other settings (the Belgariad, LotR, Lovecraft and Riftwars)
